Be Careful As to What You Put In Front Of Your Eyes!

“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.” Psalm 101:3

It is important to set no wicked thing before your eyes, as King David said. It is important that you put the right thing in front of your eyes, namely Christ. The Bible tells us we are to be, “…looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of your faith…” (Hebrew 12:2). In other words, keeping your eyes fixed on Christ.

This is why you need to be careful of what you put in front of your eyes. When you see a movie about Karate, what is the next activity you want to get into? Karate. When you see a movie about boxing, what is the next activity you want to get into? Boxing. When you see a wrestling movie, what is the next activity you want to join? Wrestling. When you see a basketball movie, what is the next sport you want to get into? Basketball.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

If you are wondering or haven’t got the point yet of what I am trying to say, here it is. When you put something in front of your eyes, you want to imitate it. That is why you need to be careful and have the right thing in front of your eyes. If I am constantly watching violent gunfight videos games, for example, what am I going to want to do? Am I going to want to imitate what they do?

That is also why, especially the young people in America who are forming the habits they will carry for the rest of their lives, should have the right thing put in front of them. When you see most of the shootings nowadays, one of the contributing factors for the violence was the fact that violence was probably put before them through video games, violent gun movies, etc.

My point here is keep your eyes fixed upon Jesus Christ, and warn you to be careful as to what you put in front of your eyes! The only person that we should be imitating is Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
