Being Spent for the Gospel

I have recently just spent the past 12 days for 12 hours a day being spent for the purpose of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Our ministry had a booth at the Minnesota State Fair in which approximately 2 million people attend.  It is an awesome opportunity to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Why? Because that is where the lost are at!  Jesus said in Luke 5:32, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”  That is exactly what we were doing at the fair.  Not everyone will step foot inside of a church building, tea party, or another conservative meeting, but they will spend their time going to something like the State Fair.  It’s a place where people can party and fill up on all their fleshly appetites, but our booth stood as a light amidst the darkness.  It was a shining the light of truth and the hope where Jesus Christ was glorified.  Needless to say, we were spent for the Gospel.  I talked so much that my throat still hurts from it, but every bit of our time and effort was well worth it for the Salvation of men and women’s souls unto Christ.

You see, every day we are being spent for the Gospel in one way or another.  Every day we are tried, stretched, tired, overwhelmed, stressed, and a bit weary from all that we are called to do, but nevertheless we do it.  And yet even with all we do, and this is not a pat the back by any means, it is nothing compared to what those in other countries, for example, have been called upon to sacrifice or endure for the name of Christ because they are Christians.  Let me put it into perspective.  Have you been beaten today? Imprisoned? Had family members murdered, dismembered, or anything similar for the sake of Christ?  In America, we really have not a clue as what the apostles and prophets and Jesus Christ Himself went through on our behalf?  We don’t.  Some people can talk as if they do, but what have they really suffered for Christ?

Modern day Christianity is so bold that if somebody looks at us the wrong way because they find out that we’re Christians, we get all intimidated, embarrassed, and scared.  The average professed Christian doesn’t even witness or evangelize for his faith!  And why should he, because he’s not really Christ’s in the first place! You can’t even get them to pass out a simple Gospel track or even help at a Christian event to reach the lost.  In short, American Christianity, for the most part, is a joke.

So, it’s time for you to check yourself. What are you doing for the sake of the Gospel?  Do you even desire to see other saved?  Does your heart go out to the man you see you at the corner of the stoplight, or at the gas station or that co-worker you see every day at work that you know is so lost and in need of a Savior?  As I’ve said before, Charles Spurgeon rightfully said, “Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you’re not saved yourself, be sure of that!” Jesus said in Mark 16:15, “…Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Have you obeyed this command?

It’s amazing how many people in America call themselves Christians, but do not even speak to anyone about Christ!  If you are not here on this earth to live for Christ and be spent for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake so that others may come to know Jesus Christ as well, then what on earth is your purpose for living?  The world is literally dying and going to hell all around you.  An eternity of eternal life or the damnation of those around you could depend on you and your witness or your lack thereof.

If you are not being spent for the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the aim of seeking and saving that which is lost (Luke 19:10), then don’t bother to call yourself a Christian, for you are truly a false convert who is only a pretender and in truth are no real Christian at all.  Get up, get right with God and get doing for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. The world believes in their gospel 100%.  It’s about time for true Christians to start believing in ours; unashamed and boldly proclaiming the Gospel to EVERY creature. (Romans 1:16)  Now go out and do it!
