We were all shocked at the death of five officers in Dallas on July 7th of this year. Many felt that the group Black Lives Matter were in some ways responsible. They had been used as partners in the rally and had fed the hype and rhetoric that led to the shooting of the officers and others.
Now, one man is seeking to hold these people responsible.
The Star-Telegram reports:
The father of Dallas police officer Patrick Zamarripa — a Fort Worth native who was one of five officers killed in downtown Dallas in July — is suing Black Lives Matter, among other groups, alleging that its organizers incited a “War on Police” that led to his son’s death.
“While Defendant Black Lives Matter claims to combat anti-black racism,” the lawsuit said, “the movement has in fact incited and committed further violence, severe bodily injury and death against police officers of all races and ethnicities, Jews, and Caucasians. Defendant Black Lives Matter is, in fact, a violent and revolutionary criminal gang.”
These are harsh allegations against a group that claims to be seeking an end to violence. However, there is something to be said about the group’s track record. They have as of yet, never had a high profile event in a large city that did not have criminal activity connected to it.
But, they are not the only people listed as responsible.
The Star-Tribune continued:
But it includes a long list of other activists:
Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam; Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network; Black Lives Matter organizers Rashad Turner, Opal Tometi, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, Deray McKesson and Johnetta Elzie; Malik Zulu Shabazz, leader of the New Black Panthers Party; and George Soros, a supporter of Black Lives Matter.
Even if this lawsuit loses, we will see a precedent established. There will be responsibility called for against those who organize events that turn into riots.
Hopefully, this will begin to teach the violent and the hate monger to stay home.
