Boehner Going to Staff Aides for TPA

It seems the heat is on in regards to the Trade Promotion Authority, or TPA, that would fast-track Obamatrade, aka the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Breitbart has reported “more Republicans are coming out in opposition to Obamatrade” against the House leadership forcing Boehner and his allies to specifically target undecided members’ staff in an effort to push through Obamatrade. One aide described it as “sickening.”

Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-AL), who serves in a senior position on the House Appropriations Committee, told Breitbart News, “Trade deals should be about creating jobs. At this point I am skeptical that any trade deal President Obama — or any president — might bring would actually create jobs in Alabama. This will be an agreement that would be in place for years to come.”

Which Candidate Do You Support in the Republican Primaries?

While not exactly a “no” on Obamatrade, it is a potential “no” which increases the “no” and “leaning no” votes to 40 members in Congress. Undecided members have not budged against pressure from Speaker John Boehner (D-OH) or anyone else that has championed the TPP. Staunch proponents of Obamatrade are now going “door-to-door” to House members’ staff to try to persuade them to get on board in support of the TPP.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), who is publicly opposed to the TPP, told Breitbart news in an email that Republican leadership “has adopted Democrat talking points on this.”

Many trusted Republicans parrot the talking points Democrat leaders fashioned that passing TPA will force the administration to finally provide us information before trade agreements are finalized which will then force the President to include Congress in something so important.

That is such a great idea, except – wait, wasn’t it the law that the President had to give us 30 days’ notice before he released anyone from Guantanamo? Isn’t it the current law that the President and his administration must comply with lawful subpoenas from Congress like requesting Fast and Furious documents that have still not been provided?

And isn’t it the law that administration officials must come testify before Congress when subpoenaed, not tell them they have no business asking? — much like the White House principal health policy advisor and top IRS official did to the House Oversight Committee and the US Treasury Department continues to do to the Senate. The list of blatant disregard for the law could continue on; however, I’m afraid it would take up too much room to name all the offenses.

The fact is that this lawless administration is the least transparent ever. Adding one more requirement will mean one more law this administration can ignore. But I really have to admire the optimism of members of the Congress, who say, ‘But this time, he really, really and truly will comply with giving us notice; this one law will change everything about the lack of transparency.’ I admire that optimism, but cannot close my eyes long enough to be quite that blind.

Rep. Gohmert, God Bless him, has hit the nail on the head. This administration is lawless, disregarding the law at every turn while thumbing its nose at Congress and the people. Any additional “law” is just another one Obama and his administration will ignore/disregard/violate or break. As the old saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

At this point, all the shame belongs on Congress as the majority of them are closing their eyes, becoming willfully blind. With over 1,063 incidents of lies, deceit, criminal activity and treason, only a fool would believe Obama “really, really and truly will comply” this time. While Gohmert may “admire their optimism,” many American citizens are shaking their head at the stupidity of some Congressional members.

One House GOP aide told Breitbart Boehner’s allies have been approaching staff members because undecided members of Congress are not budging. The aide stated in an email, “I’m kinda sickened by it actually.”

“‘Unfortunately the troops have mobilized to have staff lobby their bosses for TPA even though the member isn’t willing,’ the House GOP aide said.”

According to Breitbart, “It’s quite incredible that Boehner’s team is unable to get their message through to members themselves — and means that essentially the establishment is not even getting their phone calls returned from House Republicans.”

Both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) voted against TPA in the Senate. With these two opposed to fast-track, it’s possible that Aderholt’s decision to come out potentially against Obamatrade could prompt others from the Alabama delegation to do so as well. Currently, they are silent as is Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL). However, Roby’s aide, Todd Stacy, stated that she “hadn’t staked out a position” but continues to study the issue. Stacy told Breitbart Rep. Roby is supportive of free trade that is fair and “strongly believes Congress must retain its authority to approve or reject any trade deal.”

Undecided members of the House include Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) as confirmed by their spokespersons. Other spokespeople confirmed their bosses were undecided either publicly or anonymously. Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS) has avoided weighing in on the issue; but, as he is facing challengers in the upcoming election, Palazzo cannot continue to avoid answering.

On Tuesday, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Rep. Paul Cook (R-CA) publicly opposed Obamatrade. In response, Boehner’s office “compiled a list of in some cases weeks old quotes from various other Republicans who support Obamatrade to put out a post on Boehner’s website arguing that support for Obamatrade ‘grows’.” It appears that the individuals in both chambers Boehner quoted to show support is increasing for TPA have supported Obamatrade for quite some time.

Looks like Boehner has learned some tricks from liberals and Democrats — bad ones at that. It is no secret that Boehner has locked arms with Obama in order to deliver the House — just as McConnell delivered the Senate for the usurper. The modern day Benedict Arnold of the House is proving with each passing day that he needs replacing.

The actions by Boehner and his staff appear to be desperate ones. Could it be that the House might have enough support to defeat TPA? One can hope; however, Americans must do more than hope.

Once again, Americans should contact their Representatives in the House who are undecided or who are in support of TPA and request they do not allow fast-track authority to pass. It is time Americans stand up and declare that no bill should approve a unilateral negotiation of a trade deal/treaty/agreement without anyone in Congress knowing what is in it or Congress having a voice in the negotiations per Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution of the United States of America. Americans should also encourage members of Congress who have read the “secret deal” in the “secret room” to share what they know with the public. The non-disclosure statement is meaningless under the Constitution and the actions of Obama — all 1,063 plus — release them from some personal mental obligation to a meaningless statement.
