Most of us would rather avoid difficult or uncomfortable topics. We usually will seek to change the subject if they are brought up and would never speak of them to others. But, there are times when this becomes unavoidable and in some cases unhealthy. It’s unhealthy because though the topic is difficult or uncomfortable, it needs to be dealt with. By not talking about sodomites and how they should be dealt with, we are now in a situation where they are being treated as a race of people. Well, one California lawyer is seeking to change that and force the conversation.
Christian Headline News reports:
A California attorney has proposed a controversial ballot initiative that calls for the execution of homosexuals.
Matt McLaughlin’s Sodomite Suppression Act also bans advocating for LGBT rights to minors, punishable by a $1 million fine, up to 10 years in prison, and expulsion from the state.
This may offend some, especially those who do not oppose the sodomites and their actions. McLaughlin is being attacked for this action. The people who this has offended are now investigating Matt’s life. You see instead of talking about this issue, the pro-sodomites and the sodomites attack the people who disagree with them. So what exactly does this proposal say?
CHN reports:
“Seeing that it is better that offenders should die rather than that all of us should be killed by God’s just wrath against us for the folly of tolerating wickedness in our midst, the People of California wisely command, in the fear of God, that any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification be put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method,”
Now, here is the reason that Matt made this proposal. According to Matt, God is not going to leave us unpunished for allowing this sin to flourish in our midst. Now, what most Christians will baulk on is the idea of the death penalty. Yet, these same people defend their demand of capital punishment for murders on the same principle as Matt does for the sodomite.
I do not want to be misunderstood, so let me make this as clear as I possibly can. This law is not making an open season on sodomites in California. I am not saying that if you know someone practicing sodomy, that you will have the right or responsibility to kill that person. Rather, it seems what Matt is saying here is that the legal system will use as punishment for sodomy the death penalty.
Has Matt crossed the line here? Is Matt and others like him just “hate mongers”? I do not think that they are, nor do I think that Matt has crossed a line. In fact, I think that if we are to look to the Word of God then we would see that he is right on track.
Lev. 20:13 reads:
If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.
Next, we must understand that God does judge nations and societies for not obeying his Word. Sodom and Gomorrah should be the first to come to mind, but this is not all. One should read all of Leviticus 18, but for space I will only quote 24-30 to make my point.
‘Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled. For the land has become defiled, therefore I have brought its [n]punishment upon it, so the land has spewed out its inhabitants. But as for you, you are to keep My statutes and My judgments and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native, nor the alien who sojourns among you (for the men of the land who have been before you have done all these abominations, and the land has become defiled); so that the land will not spew you out, should you defile it, as it has spewed out the nation which has been before you. For whoever does any of these abominations, [o]those persons who do so shall be cut off from among their people. Thus you are to keep My charge, that you do not practice any of the abominable customs which have been practiced before you, so as not to defile yourselves with them; I am the Lord your God.'”
Matt says in order that God does not bring their punishment upon us all, that the wrath of God should be administered by His minister (Rom 13:1-5). Romans 13:1-5 shows that governing officials are to administer God’s wrath to the lawless. Those who sin and break the law face the righteous punishment for their crimes. If they do not, then that whole nation is guilty of defiling the land.
If this bothers you, please take the time to look at this further. Do not get angry with me, but read your Bible, lest you find yourself kicking against the pricks.
