When It Comes to Censorship, YouTube Is An UnEqual Applier Of Its TOS

Many conservatives, as well as liberal sites and videos have been censored by social media giants like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, including this one.

They randomly apply their terms of service, but not fairly.  In fact, it almost seems that in some cases, they are directly targeting the content provider rather than the content itself.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Take a look at this short video from h3h3 Productions to see just how YouTube does not apply it’s TOS to everyone.

WARNING: There is some language that will be offensive to some, but the point made is right on.

The guy in the video points out the one YouTuber posted a video in which the money brought in from the video about the Las Vegas shooting would go to charity.  How did YouTube respond?

“It’s not suitable for advertisers.”

“We ♥ what you’re doing to help, but no matter the intent, our policy is to not run ads on videos about tragedies,” tweeted YouTube.

Yet, aren’t those same advertisers supporting 24/7 coverage of that same shooting on cable and over the air channels covering the news?  Why yes, yes they are.

Still, h3h3 pointed to Jimmy Kimmel, who also produced a video on the Las Vegas shooting and monetized it.

So, they were called out on it.  H3h3 asks, if it’s not the policy of YouTube to run ads on videos about tragedies, then how do they explain monetizing Kimmel’s video, which h3h3 agrees with?

This is the video he pointed to.

This video had ads from GMC and the new Blade Runner movie.

Of course, while sometimes I do find Jimmy Kimmel hilarious, he’s just plain wrong in his commentary.  Of course, he’ll never have me on his show to demonstrate how wrong he actually is though.

H3h3 also points out how YouTube manipulates the trending.

Not only do they violate their own policies, but they pick and choose winners and losers.

It’s called “selective enforcement.”

“When you have rules that are so general that you can prosecute pretty much anyone you want, when you use that broadness to enforce a certain ideology, that’s censorship,” says h3h3.

Now look, h3h3 agrees with Jimmy Kimmel and an anti-gun agenda, but he rightly asks, “Now, as much as I love Jimmy Kimmel and agree with him, would you to put ads and promote somebody from the conflicting side from the right with an opposing view?  I don’t think so. I don’t at all.”

“While I disagree with them, like I said, I’m more proponent of free speech and what they’re doing is clearly picking a side,” he added.

He’s right, you know.  By the way, this is not a First Amendment issue as the First Amendment applies only to Congress.

Did YouTube pull monetization from Jimmy Kimmel’s video after they were called out for their blatant hypocrisy and over 350,000 people agreed with them being called out?  Nope.  They doubled down, adding more ads from those advertisers that just don’t think such videos are “not suitable” for them.

The list of advertisers included:

  • Royal Caribbean
  • Wells Fargo
  • University of Phoenix
  • Geostorm

Perhaps that’s because in large part, the people don’t care.  Surely, they get upset at it, but it’s short lived.  They still have food in their bellies and a house and clothes.  They have no reason in their minds to stand up and say we won’t support such nonsense by not even going to the sites or being patrons of the advertisers.

My goodness, I have to link to the YouTube video to even report on the truth of what the guy is saying!

Just to make the point even more relevant, h3h3 points out that CNN was running ads by major corporations and companies during a live active shooter report from Las Vegas.

Their coverage of a tragedy was brought to you by the same corporations that were sticking it to conservative websites, YouTube channels, Facebook and Twitter accounts for their coverage of tragedies and going against the media’s narrative on almost anything.

  • Coca-Cola
  • Pepsi
  • Dr. Pepper
  • American Beverage Association

You see, corporations control the media, and this is all a ploy to manipulate the people.  In fact, 6 corporations own 90% of the media, what we watch, read and listen to.

Frankly, we don’t need the government imposing a fascists regime on us when we have it coming from corporate America.

No, I’m not a liberal, but if you can’t see the handwriting on the wall here, it’s either because you are in on it, ignorant or just don’t care.

However, if you are in the business of providing information to the public, then you have felt the stranglehold of the media, the government and social media giants like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

While I believe that people and businesses can set up terms of service and can censor on their own property what they want, when they do so selectively, it seems that they are opening themselves up to a lawsuit and as such, I’ve called on my own company to take them to task rather than simply taking it or adjusting to fit their demands.  All that does, in my opinion, is to encourage them to take the next step in cutting off not only monetization, but also any access to their site at all.
