Congressman Files Impeachment Article Against President Trump

Democrat Congressman Brad Sherman (CA) introduced an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Wednesday over the fabricated Russian scandal.

Sherman accused Trump of obstructing justice during an investigation into Russia’s meddling in US elections, a story that even the media is being busted on as being fake news.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

According to Sherman, Trump’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey in May amount to obstruction.  Rep. Al Green (D-TX) has also jumped on this non-issue.

The text of House Resolution 438 reads:

Resolved, That Donald Joint Trump, President of the United States, is impeached for }ngh crimes and ntis— demeanors anti that the following article of impeachment be exhibited to the ITnited States Senate: Article of impeachment exiHbjted by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, against Donald John Trump, President of the United States of America, in maintenance amid support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemanors.

Article I

In his conduct while President of the United States, Donald John Trump, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed and impeded the administration of justice during a federal investigation in that:

Knowing that federal law enforcement authorities were investigating possible criminal law violations of his former National Security Advisor, General Michael Flynn and knowing that federal law enforcement authorities were conducting one or more investigations into Russian state interference in the 2016 campaign for President of the United States, and that such investigation(s) included the conduct of his campaign personnel and associates acting on behalf of the  campaign, to include the possible collusion by those individuals with the Russian government, Donald John Trump sought to use his authority to hinder and cause the termination of such investigation(s) including through threatening, and then terminating, James Comey, who was until such termination the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The pattern of behavior leading to the conclusion that he sought to cause the hindrance or termination of said investigation(s) include the following:

(1) Requesting that the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation curtail the investigation of the activities of General Michael Flynn under circumstances wherein it appeared that Director Comey might be terminated if he failed to adhere to such request.

(2) Making a determination to terminate the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and only thereafter requesting that the Deputy Attorney General provide him with a memorandum detailing inadequacies in the Director’s performance of his duties.

(3) Despite offering differing rationales for the termination of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, admitted subsequently that the main reason for the termination was that the Director would not close or alter the investigation of matters related to the involvement of Russia in the 2016 campaign for President of the United States.

(4) Stated that, once he had terminated the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the pressure of said investigation had been significantly reduced.

In all of this, Donald John Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as president and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office

Knowing that the article has no chance of passing in the House, Sherman is using it politically in the same manner as Rep. Maxine Waters when she pushed the fake charges against Trump over the Russia claims.

Sheman referred to Trump as “America’s amateur President.”  I have to correct him in that he is thinking of Barack Obama, not Trump.

Sherman is not happy about the possibility of a Mike Pence presidency.

“I served with Mike Pence in Congress for twelve years and I disagree with him on just about everything,” Sherman said in a statement. “I never dreamed I would author a measure that would put him in the White House.”

Sherman claims to want “to begin a long process to protect our country from abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and impulsive, ignorant incompetence.”

Well, Sherman was in office the entire two terms of Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah.  Did he offer any articles of impeachment over Obama’s executive action regarding covering up and not providing document Congress requested regarding Operation Fast and Furious?  Nope.  Did he offer articles of impeachment over the lies the Obama administration perpetrated to the American people regarding their lack of action during the September 11, 2012 jihad attacks in Benghazi?  Nope.  What about Obama’s role non-action in the IRS targeting scandal, or the fact that he kept a known lawbreaker in his administration as Health and Human Services Secretary?  What of aiding and abetting America’s enemies, the Muslim Brotherhood while thumbing his nose at our veterans?  Did we see any anger and pontificating of justice from Rep. Sherman then?  Nope, not a peep.  In fact, did Mr. Sherman ever raise his voice about Director Comey admitting that Hillary Clinton violated the law, but would not recommend prosecuting her?  Again, nothing.

Did Rep. Sherman ever once introduce an article of impeachment concerning any of the many documented lies, crimes and cronyism that Barack Obama engaged in?  Nope, all we heard from Mr. Sherman were excuses.

Yet, he is going after something that most of our intelligence agencies don’t agree with him on and he is taking the word of one man about.  Of course, this article is ridiculous.  I’ve said if you are going after Trump for impeachment, there are other things you could point to, but this is not one of them.  Rep. Sherman is simply playing partisan politics.  He’s not interested in justice and the rule of law.

“Introducing Articles of Impeachment will have two possible outcomes,” said Sherman.  “First, I have slight hope it will inspire an ‘intervention’ in the White House.  If Impeachment is real, if they actually see Articles, perhaps we will see incompetency replaced by care.  Perhaps uncontrollable impulses will be controlled. And perhaps the danger our nation faces will be ameliorated.”

“Second, and more likely, filing Articles of Impeachment is the first step on a very long road,” he added.  “But if the impulsive incompetency continues, then eventually—many, many months from now—Republicans will join the impeachment effort.”

I’m betting on the latter outcome rather than the former.
