Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) is one of the few consistent conservatives fighting for our rights in Congress. He stands like a light against the darkness of the moderate and squishy GOP establishment – who so often work with Democrats to take our rights and freedom. Representative Massie is pushing to end the madness of “Gun Free Zones,” which do nothing but make helpless victims out of the most innocent lives in our society.
I will always fight to protect your Second Amendment rights. That is why the first bill I introduced in Congress was HR 133, the Citizens Protection Act of 2013, to repeal Gun-Free school zones. Gun free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.
I also introduced an amendment in the appropriations process this summer to defund unconstitutional Washington DC gun laws that have accomplished nothing except to prevent law abiding visitors to our nation’s capital and citizens of DC from exercising their Right to Keep and Bear Arms. The House passed my amendment, 241-181. Unfortunately, my amendment to restore the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in our nation’s capital was stripped from the CR/Omnibus behind closed doors this December.
I will continue to fight. Too many politicians fail to realize that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is not principally about hunting or recreation. The#SecondAmendment to our #Constitution is our Founding Fathers’ restatement of our natural God-given right to defend life, liberty, and property.
