Criticism of Islam leads to German Math Professor’s Dismissal

We were once a culture that prided itself in the free exchange of ideas. This, for the most part, entailed difficult to hear criticisms of practice and thought. And in the main, we have done a decent job at holding this as a part of our culture.

As America has grown in prominence and wealth, many countries have sought to imitate this open forum of intellectual thought. But several decades have seen the gradual progression away from this public debate format. This is nowhere more true than in our universities.

America is not the only country suffering from this mental malady. It is a widespread phenomenon in Europe.

Breitbart reports:

A mathematics professor at a German university was fired after he gave students problems to solve in class critical of Islam.

According to one student in Berlin the professor had made them calculate the relationship between Muslim populations and suicide bombings saying “we were to calculate the statistical relationship between the number of terrorist attacks and the proportion of Muslims in the population.” Students were also asked to calculate the rate of female genital mutilation in Egypt.

Now, we have to confess that this is a little extreme. The professor could have chosen other things to calculate. But is this really racist? Is Muslim a race or a religion? Can you be racist against a religion?

More importantly, was the data in any way tampered with by Professor Wolfang Hebold? This is the real question that should be addressed here. It is one thing to make up things because you do not like a particular group, but if you are using correct numbers, what is the problem?

The problem is that these are inconvenient truths about Islam. And this is not the only professor that the liberals have sought to silent.

Breitbart continues:

Another university professor found himself in the same kind of trouble back in February when he made positive statements online about the PEGIDA protest movement. University of Leipzig professor Thomas Raucher posted his support for the group on twitter and students and faculty both attempted to remove him from his position citing ‘Islamophobia’.

But it seems that “Islamophobia” is the problem, thought control is the problem.
