Don’t Be A Brat! Honor Your Dad & Mom

Ephesians 6:1-3 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”

Obeying your parents is something every child should do.

It’s pretty simple.

If you love your parents, you’ll obey them.

Just like with the Lord, if you love Him, you will keep His commandments.

John 14:15 says, “If ye love Me, keep My commandments.”

So, if you love your Dad and Mom, you will keep their commandments, too.

Rules are there to keep us from getting hurt a lot of times. One time I was in a pool and my Dad told me not to run.  I didn’t listen and I ended up tripping and falling. If I would’ve listened and obeyed, I wouldn’t have tripped.

The fifth commandment says, “Honor thy father and thy mother.”

If you disobey them, you’re not honoring them.

You’re promised a long life on the earth if you obey your parents and that it will be well with you (Ephesians 6:1-3), but for those kids who don’t honor their parents and disobey them, they will have a lot of trouble in life.

So, do yourself a favor, and just obey God and your parents too.

You’ll be glad you did!
