“My administration has done more than any administration in the history to secure our southern border. Our border has never been more secure.” –President Donald Trump
On July 3, 2020, I wrote an article titled “Why Are We Not Hearing About The Wall Any Longer? Are You Ready For This? Broken Wall, Broken Promises.” The response to that article was embarrassing, to say the least.
I was called every name under the sun, from “fake news” to “get your head out of the sand,” to claims about there being a lot of video of the wall online.
In turn, I then crosschecked all of my information from several different sources thinking that maybe I missed something, and yet, I could find nothing to verify what they were saying. I then asked them to prove my information wrong with no response (Jeremiah 5:31).
Friends, I have to say that these that are taking this current administration at face value should take a lesson from the Christ when He said that we are to “judge men by their fruit” (Matthew 7:16).
What I have found concerning this group of Trump worshippers is that no matter what he says, somehow or another, it just must be so. I find just the exact opposite: what he says and what he does are two different stories friends (Matthew 23:3). This just may be the reason these hypocrites are so despised by the younger generations.
People need to cross-check what is said with every politician, period (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).
International Business Times reported:
On June 23, President Trump made his first visit of the year to the Mexican border wall, a project that was a cornerstone of his 2016 campaign platform. The wall is expected to be a top re-election talking point for the Trump campaign, but progress on its construction has lagged considerably behind the administration’s stated goals.
Trump’s visit was also meant to celebrate the completion of 200 miles of the wall. Despite the congratulatory tone, the 200 miles is less than half of Trump’s stated goal of having 450 miles of wall built by the end of 2020.
Complicating this issue further is that only three miles of the wall has been built along portions of the border where there had already been structures. The rest of the progress made on the wall has been made by replacing old or dilapidated structures and fencing.
“My administration has done more than any administration in the history to secure our southern border,” Trump boasted during the visit. “Our border has never been more secure.”
Trump also attempted to boast about the 84% drop in undocumented border crossing within the last year.
(In September 2019, Trump said he planned to build 450–500 miles of new wall by the end of 2020. However, as of November 2019, while at least 76 miles of existing wall had been replaced or reinforced during Trump’s presidency, no new wall had yet been completed.)
Again, we were told by Donald Trump, “My administration has done more than any administration in the history to secure our southern border. Our border has never been more secure.”
According to BBC.com:
What’s worse is that in May saw the highest number of migrants for more than a decade.
In May this year, almost 133,000 people were apprehended after crossing the border illegally – the highest number for 13 years.
Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost told the Senate Judiciary Committee the numbers were “off the charts” and that staff were facing an “unprecedented border security and humanitarian crisis along our southwest border”.
Americans, it is the truth that sets you free (John 8:32), and if adhered to, it just may even make you secure.
