Former Inmate Sues for being Denied Satanic Bible While in Prison

There are few things that inmates are allowed to possess in their cells; one is a religious book. For many, the Bible would be the best thing that you could give an inmate. Their hope would be that they would believe what it says and change their life.

But, what if the inmate requested a satanic bible? What if the thing that the prisoner desired would not tell them that they need to change, but that they were as good as they or anyone needed to be?

If you are like most of us, this would be the last thing you would think that they would need to hear. But, this is exactly what one inmate asked for.

Christian News reports:

A former prison inmate in New Mexico has filed a federal lawsuit against a chaplain and others for allegedly being prohibited from practicing Satanism while incarcerated.

Monica Lujan, a member of the Church of Satan, is suing the Corrections Corporation of America and three of its employees. She had spent three years at the New Mexico Women’s Correctional Facility in Grants over a drug offense and forgery.

She claims that her rights to practice her religion were infringed. But, I believe that this is technically not true.

According to the Church of Satan, all gods are fictional. And that the organization does not even believe in Satan.  The Church of Satan believes Satan is fictional as well. Therefore, it is impossible to make a case that they are a religion.

Christian News continues:

“To us, Satan is the symbol that best suits the nature of we who are carnal by birth—people who feel no battles raging between our thoughts and feelings, we who do not embrace the concept of a soul imprisoned in a body,” its website outlines.

“Since the Satanist understands that all gods are fiction, instead of bending a knee in worship to—or seeking friendship or unity with—such mythical entities, he places himself at the center of his own subjective universe as his own highest value,” it states. “We Satanists are thus our own ‘gods…’”

The absence of Lujan’s satanic bible could not hinder her from hearing from the deity she worshiped because that deity was herself. She could then hear from her “god” everywhere she went.

This is just another way for an inmate to get back at those who imprisoned her.
