The Government Larceny Is Larger than You Think!

Last week the mayor of Houston enraged many Christians when the city subpoenaed the sermons of some Houston area pastors. This got me to thinking…

Suppose you wake up tomorrow morning, walk downstairs and find a thief in your living room rifling through your furniture. He has already pocketed some cash from your desk drawer, and in his satchel he has tucked away your silverware, your jewelry, and your rare coin collection. You’ve caught him in the act! You’ve pulled out your Smith and Wesson, and you’ve called the police.

While waiting for the authorities to come and incarcerate him, he offers you what he calls an accommodation. “I’ll grant you a waiver on the coin collection,” he says, taking it out of the satchel. “You can keep it for one more year.”

Grateful for his generosity, you thank him profusely. Of course, you allow him to leave peacefully. You explain to the police that you are so happy to have your coin collection for one more year, you really don’t mind that he took all your silverware, and your jewelry, and your cash. You are now able to tell your wife and your children and all your neighbors how you, with your tough negotiating and your swift action, totally thwarted that burglar.

I don’t think so.

Here’s the comparison that I’d like you to consider:

By allowing the Federal Government to get away with creating “programs” like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid (none of which are authorized by the Constitution), we have not only let the thief take our cash, our jewelry, and our silverware, but we have also given him the very key to our house, inviting him to come in every night and do his dirty business. But now that he has taken the religious liberty “coin collection,” we are indignantly screaming that he has gone too far!

Of course he has!

Normally, when we catch a thief, we work to stop his stealing and to put him in jail. Isn’t it time we put a stop to government larceny, once and for all, and reclaim our right to all of our property?
