Groups Across Political Spectrum Come Together To Stop War In Yemen With Automated System To Call Your Representative

Without the constant divisiveness rammed down the collective throats of Americans people could find common ground on multiple issues — despite their political differences. The left/right paradigm polarizes society to the point of making people support mass murdering psychopaths because they have a ‘D’ or an ‘R’ behind their names.

The middle ground is compromised and people are forced into accepting the extremities to lead them. It has been this way for far too long and the ramifications of such a system have destroyed the economy, led to failing infrastructure, and most horrifically of all — unrestrained warfare on a global scale.

Millions of innocent men, women and children around the planet have been displaced, starved, and slaughtered in the name of bipartisan US imperialism. All the while, these wars of aggression go on unchecked thanks to infighting, dehumanization, and two-party polarization that keeps half the country supporting warmongers, so long as it’s their “team” behind the violence.

While the mainstream left has largely abandoned the antiwar movement, independent leftists have remained steadfast in their disdain for mass human suffering. Groups like Demand Progress, Code Pink, Action Corps, Labor Against Racism and War, Peace Action, and Stand, have continued the fight to stop these wars of aggression.

And now, their antiwar agenda has garnered the attention and support of the national Libertarian Party. TFTP spoke to one of the larger supporters of this agenda, Scott Horton, who is extremely hopeful that this new plan could help bring an end to the mass murder, starvation, and genocide in Yemen.

Horton told TFTP that is now a bipartisan move that streamlines the antiwar movement and makes it very easy for people to push the Yemen War Powers Resolution to end U.S. participation in the slaughter of the Yemen people in the Saudi-led war. Now, the Libertarian Party has made it one of their goals.

It’s literally as easy as making a phone call.

1) Dial 1-833-STOP-WAR on your phone

You will then be asked to enter your ZIP code on the key pad, followed by ‘#’. We recommend looking up your 9-digit ZIP code to ensure you are connected to the correct representative. (You can look it up here)

2) Tell your Representative and Senators to support a War Powers Resolution for Yemen

You will be directed first to your House representative, and then to your Senators. Once you are connected to their office (or voicemail), you can use the following prompt, but the more personalized the better:

“Hi. My name is {full name} and I’m a resident of {city, state}.
I’m calling to urge {Representative Last Name} to publicly support the Yemen War Powers Resolution to end U.S. participation in the Saudi-led war on Yemen. Congress has never authorized participation and its impact on the Yemeni people has been devastating.

The war has led to the deaths of almost 400,000 Yemenis and many continue to experience the threat of famine. Congress must act. I hope {Representative Last Name} will join the effort for peace by supporting the Yemen War Powers Resolution.”

3) Encourage others to call on social media

Let your friends, family, and followers know what you just did! Share a link to this webpage and encourage them to call 1-833-STOP-WAR.

4) Stay up-to-date on other ways to advocate

The fact that this push is supported by folks on opposite sides of the political spectrum cannot be understated. Peace is apolitical and it can serve as the glue to help bring society back together.

For years, all wars have been started with distortions of the truth and appeals to emotion. Government-sanctioned blinders are applied to the minds of statesmen and the lies and propaganda reverberate between them, reinforcing false narratives to the point of dehumanizing entire groups of innocent people.

How would the state get away with ruthlessly killing children for years without this tactic of manipulation?

Yemen has been devastated by more than 8 years of horrific war, fostered by the Saudi Arabian government and supported militarily by the United States and yet Twitter is not flooded with millions of Yemeni flags in profiles because neither of the mainstream political parties can use it to rile up their base. This is because both parties have supported this war for nearly a decade.

“Since March 2015, over 23,000 airstrikes have been launched by the coalition in Yemen, killing or injuring over 18,000 civilians. Living in a country subjected to an average of 10 airstrikes per day has left millions feeling far from safe,”  the UN Group of Eminent International and Regional Experts on Yemen stated in a recent report.

While there have been thousands slaughtered with US-backed airstrikes, the blockades imposed by the US and its allied states are wrecking far more havoc. As reported, humanitarian groups agreed that the air war conducted by the KSA and UAE caused the most civilian damage and casualties. Along with the de facto blockade imposed by the royal states and their hireling “coalition” partners, the result has been horrific. Nearly 400,000 civilians, an astonishing 70 percent of them children, have died, most from disease or malnutrition.

Every 75 seconds a child dies from starvation in Yemen.

And you can help stop this.

Despite this horrific suffering of mostly children, the mainstream has been almost completely silent on the issue of Yemen. As a result, the American public and Westerners at large, have also been completely silent. This is by design so we must see past their distractions and move on our own.

We have the tools to be able to see the truth and beat the propaganda, yet fewer and fewer people are choosing to use them. We cannot allow this to happen. Please make the call today. It literally costs you nothing and could potentially save the lives of millions.
