Hillary Clinton Loves Common Core – Doesn’t Think Education Should Have Anything to do with Families

The lady who thinks that the entire community should get a say in how our children are raised is back and focusing on education. In a recent meet and greet with “real” Iowans (who were later found to be Hillary plants from a local Planned Parenthood), Hillary Clinton made some very disturbing remarks about what she believes education in America should look like.

In her short remarks, Hillary shows both a clear lack of understanding on how important the family is to education, and a lack of understanding about the political implications of the Common Core. It’s simply amazing… and a bit maddening.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Hillary Clinton: You know, what I think about the really unfortunate argument that has been going on around Common Core, it’s very painful because the Common Core started off as a bipartisan effort. It was actually nonpartisan. It wasn’t politicized. It was to try to come up with a core of learning that we might expect students to achieve across our country, no matter what kind of school district they were in, no matter how poor their family was, that there wouldn’t be two tiers of education. Everybody would be looking at what would be learned doing their best to achieve that

I think part of the reason Iowa may be more understanding of this is you have had the Iowa core for years. The U.S. had a system plus the Iowa Assessment Test. I think I’m right in saying that I took those when I was in elementary school. The Iowa tests. So that Iowa has had a testing system based on a core curriculum for a really long time. You see the value of it. You understand why that helps you organize your whole education system.

And a lot of states, unfortunately, haven’t had that. They do not understand the value of a core in the sense, a Common Core, yes, of course, you can figure out the best way in your community to try to reach — but your question is a larger one. How do we end up at a point where we are so negative about the most important non-family enterprise in the raising of the next generation which is how our kids are educated?

It’s amazing how condescending one person can be, isn’t it?

Hillary loves the folks in Iowa because they understand education better than the rest of us. If only we simple folk who don’t like the Common Core could just understand how much better it is to let someone in Washington, D.C. who’s never met our students tell us how to educate them! We’re so naïve! (Sarcasm)

This all coming from a woman who would trap low income students in failing schools and force poor inner-city kids to sit in crappy underperforming classrooms. As candidate for Senator in New York, this is what Clinton had to say about school choice:

I have a plan for education that builds on what needs to be done in the public school system. You know, I’ve now visited schools throughout the state and some of them are among the finest in the world, that you could find anywhere. But others are overcrowded, under-resourced, don’t have the certified, qualified teaching staff that they need. And we’re not doing the job that’s required to give our children the kind of education that the 21st century demands.

That’s why I’ve put forth a plan that I, in the Senate, would do to try to get the teachers that we need, to recruit and train them, and to provide the funds that are required for modernizing our schools as well as setting high standards, making them safe from violence, doing what is needed to give our children the kind of warm and supportive atmosphere that every young child needs.

Now, I do not support vouchers. And the reason I don’t is because I don’t think we can afford to siphon dollars away from our under-funded public schools. You know, when we go into a school, as I do all the time, that’s built for 1,000, as I was in Queens not so long ago, where there are twice as many children, that’s work for the public school system to be done.

I was at the Black Rock Academy here in Buffalo a few months ago. A wonderful old school, but it’s so old, they can’t figure out how to wire for computers. So, those children don’t have access to what’s needed.

I’d like us to do what we know works: smaller class size, discipline, qualified teachers, high standards. Let’s do what we know works and not give up on public education.

In fact, Hillary Clinton has only one idea for education in America. Let the Federal Government handle things. Anything and everything else is off the table. It’s so completely emblematic of the Clinton approach to politics that we probably shouldn’t be surprised. What does surprise me is the fact that Clinton is willing to tell everyone this early that she stands against any effort to improve our nation’s education… unless it’s the federal government handling it.

Homeschool (and school choice) families need to hear this: if Hillary Clinton wins, the path you’ve chosen as best for your child will be in danger. She wants an end to school choice, an end to vouchers, an end to homeschooling, and very likely even an end to private schooling.
