“We now live in a nation where doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information, religion destroys morals, and our banks destroy the economy.” ― Chris Hedges
If I want to see where I am going, I turn on the lights so that I can see where I am going (Psalm 119:105). I don’t turn the lights off so that I remain in the dark only to stumble about and be overtaken by the darkness (John 12:35).
If I want to be saved from the darkness, then I go to the light of men (John 1:4), and if I want to be saved from my sins, then I go to Him that is the Savior from sin. His name is Jesus (Matthew 1:21).
Yet, somehow or another, people have now taken on the opposite of what is true in so many different ways. Scripture tells us:
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20
Is it for the preachers of the day to destroy obedience to Christ (1 John 2:6)? Absolutely not, it is for them to preach law to grace (John 16:8-11; Galatians 3:24), to bring about godly repentance (Acts 20:21; 2 Corinthians 7:10), where we might be saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-10; Hebrews 12:2) where we establish the law through faith (Romans 3:31).
For example, we now live in a nation that destroys health. Is it the purpose of a doctor to destroy the health of a fellow human being? Absolutely not! It is his duty, obligation and purpose to restore the health of a fellow human being (Mark 5:26).
Is it the purpose of a lawyer to destroy justice? Absolutely not! It is his job to uphold the law in condemning the wicked and justifying the righteous (Deuteronomy 25:1).
Is it the purpose of a teacher to destroy knowledge? Absolutely not! It is his/her job to train up the people in becoming fruitful scholars.
Is it for the press to destroy the information that keeps us lawfully informed? Absolutely not! It is their job to give us the information so that we can remain a free people. (Liberty is the right to do what the law permits, which applies to freedom of the press in accordance with the law.)
Is it for the financial institutions to destroy the economy? Absolutely not! It is for them to run the banking institutions in such a fashion so that the economy might grow in accordance with constitutional money.
Is it for the government to destroy the country? Absolutely not! It is for them to restrain men from sin (1 John 3:4). It is for them to maintain order, and they are to enforce God’s moral law by condemning the wicked and justifying the righteous (Deuteronomy 25:1).
What is it that is destroying America today? A lack of justice and this equates to judgment having been turned backwards upon us. Remember, “Justice is the guardian of our liberties” (Isaiah 51:4).
Now, I have one more example for you: Would you expect that a billionaire would win the highest office in America only to turn and destroy the United States of America, especially all the while knowing that his slogan on the campaign trail was to “Make America Great Again” (Ronald Regan used the same slogan)?
Over and over again, billionaire Donald Trump promised to eradicate the national debt in 8 years.
Outside of the fact that this administration has been exposed (Luke 12:2) over and over again for doing the opposite of what he has promised to do, it should come as no surprise as to the trail of destruction that he has been leaving behind himself.
Most people do not even know that Donald Trump has filed bankruptcy six times and now, he is bankrupting America like no other president before him.
The Balance reported, “During the 2016 presidential campaign, Republican candidate Donald Trump promised he would eliminate the nation’s debt in eight years. Instead, his budgets would add $8.3 trillion during that time. It would increase the U.S. debt to $28.5 trillion at the end of eight years, according to Trump’s budget estimates.”
I know that Americans have taken Donald Trump at face value, which is the same problem with every politician (2 Corinthians 11:14-15), but that is the same mistake Americans make every voting cycle in this country.
You didn’t vote in a wealthy billionaire to drive your economy $8 trillion into debt no more than you would hire a doctor that would make end up making you sick, but that is exactly what has happened in America today (Isaiah 59:14).
