In The Wake Of Planned Parenthood’s Failures & A Patient Death, EMS Seems Forced To Fill Gaps While State Officials Do Absolutely Nothing

Fort Collins, CO — On July 9, yet another woman required emergency transport from the same Colorado Planned Parenthood responsible for the death of 18-year-old Lexi Arguello.

Just before 11:00 AM that day, a Planned Parenthood staffer called 911 for a 29-year-old female who was reportedly “hemorrhaging.” Public 911 records obtained by Operation Rescue were heavily redacted, but the computer-aided dispatch report showed a determinant code of “21B01M,” which indicates a “possibly dangerous hemorrhage.”

Also, radio dispatch first labeled the call an “uncoded medical,” but EMS responders upgraded the call to a “Code 3” and “Bravo Medical” before even arriving. EMS also immediately requested adding “blood” to the call, meaning sending a second ambulance stocked with adequate amounts of blood, likely for a possible transfusion.

Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, comments, “Ever since the catastrophic complications suffered by Lexi Arguello, we have noticed an uptick in emergency responders quickly requesting blood for calls to the Fort Collins Planned Parenthood.”

Lexi’s unredacted autopsy revealed she died of abortion complications that included disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Treatment for DIC like Lexi experienced requires the immediate transfusion of blood products, which Planned Parenthood would not have on-site. Furthermore, testimony given later on behalf of Lexi’s family revealed Planned Parenthood waited too long to call 911, likely eliminating any chance of Lexi’s survival.

“In the wake of Lexi’s death,” Newman adds, “it seems possible emergency responders no longer trust Planned Parenthood to give full information to 911 dispatch, or to even call 911 within an appropriate amount of time. Instead, they now seem to call ‘blood’ to any scene at this abortion clinic where a woman might need a transfusion. Yet another glaring red flag that any state health department should feel compelled to investigate.”

Colorado continues to allow abortion clinics to go unlicensed and unregulated, failing to investigate any of the growing number of abortion injuries and complications documented across the state. Since January 2025, Operation Rescue has investigated 24 abortion emergencies at completely unregulated clinics — not one has been investigated.

In response to Colorado’s ongoing decision to abandon women and preborn children, Operation Rescue has teamed up with Life Legal Defense Foundation, Pro-Life Colorado, AAPLOG, Colorado Women’s Health & Safety and Justice for All to organize a public call for justice through on-the-ground outreach, education, and activism.

The #JusticeForLexi campaign will kick-off next week, with a press conference set to be held on Friday, August 28, and immediately followed by a powerful prayer rally and campus outreach. The following day, two additional prayer vigils will be held at two more late-term abortion clinics, including the Park Hill Planned Parenthood where nine of the 24 emergencies documented by Operation Rescue have taken place.

Newman comments, “These events will be peaceful, prayerful, and powerful, and we hope pro-lifers across the state will join us.”
