Jesus’ Prayer for Justice

“Grant me justice against my adversary… And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.” -Luke 18:3-8

Since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, tyrannical Democratic Governors Andrew Cuomo and Gavin Newsom, have made churches a primary target of oppressive and unconstitutional closures and restrictions. While Home Depot and Wal-Mart have been allowed to remain open, churches, regardless of size or attendance have been forced to close their doors or face the wrath of these tyrants, as if a virus somehow knows the difference between a crowd at a House of Worship and a grocery store.

The America Christian Church needs to wake up and understand that this is a premeditated attack on the Christian church. We must understand that State Governors have no legal, moral or Constitutional authority to deprive the American people of their God-Given rights. These rights are protected by the US Constitution and include things such as prohibiting the free exercise” of religion; or “abridging the freedom of speech; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble.”

In a recent address to the Federalist Society, Justice Samuel Alito warned of the dangers to both free speech and religious liberty. On Monday, April 27th, Attorney General William Barr publicly released an official memorandum that he had sent to United States attorneys and to his assistant attorney general for civil rights. In the memo, they were told to “be on the lookout for state and local directives that could be violating the constitutional rights and civil liberties of individual citizens” and “to oversee and coordinate our efforts to monitor state and local policies and, if necessary, take action to correct them.”

The actions that are being perpetrated by many of these Governors are not only unconstitutional, but they are in fact criminal and these crimes carry many very harsh penalties. According to the US Justice Department under Title 18 U.S.C. Section 242:

Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States. For the purpose of Section 242, acts under “color of law” include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official’s lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties… The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.”

Unfortunately, the Church of Jesus Christ in America has accepted a distorted theology with regard to a proper interpretation of Romans 13. A belief that we have to obey every unlawful dictate of our elected officials. As a result, we have forgotten that God is a God of justice and is always on the side of the oppressed and at no time in biblical history has God ever stood on the side of the tyrants! God did not side with Pharaoh against the children of Israel. God did not side with King Nebuchadnezzar against Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. God did not side with King Darius against Daniel when these tyrants sought to violate these believers’ religious liberties. We would be unwise to think that God’s position has changed. In the parable of the persistent widow, Jesus actually teaches that it is acceptable to pray imprecatory prayers and Appeal to Heaven when we are being oppressed. The Christian church is going to regain all of the religious freedoms that have been attacked, beginning with the SCOTUS’ illegal and unconstitutional separation of church and state ruling.
