On Monday’s Fox & Friends, Judge Andrew Napolitano reacted to the decades-old sexual allegations brought by Christine Blasey Ford against President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. He said America would “see another version of the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings” because of the allegations.
“We’re going to see another version of the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings right before our eyes, sometime in the next few weeks, maybe as soon as Thursday,” Napolitano said, pointing to both Kavanaugh and Ford being asked to testify.
“This is a classic he said-she said,” he added. “So, she’ll come before the Senate Judiciary Committee, she’ll make these allegations. The Democrats will throw her softballs, the Republicans will grill her and cross-examine her.”
Napolitano also chimed in that law enforcement would view it skeptically, if at all, due to the passage of time, something that Elizabeth Vaughn also pointed out.
…the victim of a crime, yes even a sexual assault victim, has the responsibility to come forward within a reasonable period of time. By any measure, 36 years is excessive. The statute of limitations in the state of Maryland even for victims of child abuse ends at age 38. Until April 2017, it had been 25 (years from the date the victim reached the age of majority). And for those who reached 25 before the new law took effect last year, the old law applies. Ms. Ford is 51 years old.
Furthermore, it was pointed out that the allegations by this woman and she said nothing, even after therapy with her husband in 2012. On top of that, Senator Dianne Feinstein didn’t think it that important either. She knew about this is July and said nothing… until last week!
So, we’re going to get nothing more than a “he said-she said WWE Smackdown” that won’t go anywhere, and shouldn’t go anywhere. Furthermore, the really important things like Kavanaugh not being a Constitutionalist nor an originalist, but still referred to as a “conservative,” will not be center-stage nor will questions regarding his involvement in the Vince Foster cover-up be brought to light.
With all of this, Napolitano said that there are two arguments to why Feinstein waited and the first is that this is “nothing but a Democratic Party, Left-wing, Hail Mary effort to block an otherwise qualified nominee, who Democrats fear would interfere with Roe versus Wade.”
The other argument, according to Napolitano, is that Feinstein “did the right thing” and she didn’t want to reveal the existence of this because Dr. Ford didn’t want it revealed until a website got ahold of the issue and put it out to the public. In other words, they are playing on a claim that Feinstein was all about protecting privacy, though she has no regard for the privacy and constitutionally protected rights of US citizens, only her own.
Napolitano and the hosts said that Republican senators are already wanting to hear more on this issue and that may hamstring the votes on Kavanaugh if it goes to the Senate floor.
Why aren’t these people really grilling about original intent and true constitutionality? Why aren’t they asking about serious things that this judge will be faced with and how he comes to his conclusions and challenging him with the Constitution? Is it because they don’t know it? Worse yet, is it because they simply do not follow it themselves? That’s my guess, and so we will be demoralized with decades-old allegations that really bear no weight today, while these people play political games with our republic.
