Katy Perry Illustrates Why Christians Should Seek a Word from God Only in the Bible

It is hard to break the habits we learn from our parents. The way we see the church and what goes on there more times than not come from our parents. This is why it is so crucial that we as parents seek wisdom and understanding from God’s word. When we do not, we teach our children to love some ritual or falsehood more that His Son. This, I think, is what has happened in the case of Katy Perry (Hudson).

Now, do not misunderstand me, I know that Katy is not a believer. I knew that before, she told an interviewer as much. I knew that as soon as I heard the filth in her first single. “I Kissed a Girl” was a hit, and it outed the pop star. Not that she was a sodomite, but that she was lost. Now, it seems that Katy has returned to the habits of her childhood.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Christiannews.net has reported:

Pop star Katy Perry, a former contemporary Christian artist now known for her hit song “I Kissed a Girl,” told reporters this week that she believes that God spoke to her before her performance at the Super Bowl, telling her, “You’ve got this and I’ve got you.”

Now, Perry truly believes that God has spoken to her and sought to give her encouragement. Christiannews continues.

“It’s funny, I was praying and I got a word from God and He says, ‘You got this and I got you,'” Perry explained. “And then I was on top of the lion and a guy—a random guy—just looked on me with a headset that I’ve never communicated with before and he just looked me straight in the eyes and said, ‘You got this.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, this is God confirming I can do this.'”

For many, this kind of verbage is very familiar. It is what we hear others saying all the time. God told me and then confirmed it to me. And we know that those who say such things would not say that Katy, the girl-kissing, God-denying pop-star has actually heard from God. But the problem they have is, how do you know?

Katy has said this:

“I don’t believe in a Heaven or a Hell, or an old man sitting on a throne,” Perry told Marie Claire Magazine in 2013. “I’m not Buddhist, I’m not Hindu, I’m not Christian, but I still feel like I have a deep connection with God.”

Here is the problem. If you claim that God still speaks to people, how can you say that He did not speak to Katy? Who are you to judge that God would not speak to her? It is the same problem that ministers have faced for years. If God told me to do it, then it is okay, and you cannot deny me.

Katy, having grown up in a charismatic home, learned this from her parents. They taught her that God is still speaking new words to people. They may have even said that He spoke to them. So, here we have to say that either her parents were wrong or that God did speak to this promoter of sodomy and fornication.

There is always a chance that we can go astray when we fail to see that there is no reason for God to verbally communicate with us any longer. He has given us all that we need for life and godliness. We have all we need to hear in his word.

I have no doubt that Katy heard something. Someone was surely speaking to her. And it was her spiritual father; Christ spoke of him in John 8:44.

You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

May God’s people be satisfied in His Word.
