Leftist Privilege: Poisoned In Iceland A Year Ago – No One Arrested

Just over a year ago, a young Icelandic Leftist poisoned me in Reykjavik after I gave a lecture on the jihad threat. In the hospital thereafter, a Leftist doctor neglected to perform basic tests on me, such that I could have easily died from the poisoning. A year later, no one has been arrested, and Iceland’s medical ethics board has declined to discipline the doctor. The whole episode illustrates what those who are known to dissent from the Leftist agenda can expect from Leftist authorities: institutionalized indifference and injustice.

The poisoning took place at a crowded Reykjavik establishment. A young Icelander called me by name, leaned over our table, shook my hand, and said he was a big fan.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

About fifteen minutes later, when I got back in my hotel room, I began to feel numbness in my face, hands, and feet. I began trembling and vomiting. My heart was racing dangerously. I spent the night in a Reykjavik hospital.

What had happened quickly became clear and was soon confirmed by a hospital test: someone had dropped drugs into my drink – most likely the young man who had leaned over our table and said he was a “big fan.” For several days thereafter I was quite ill.

Since Iceland is a small country and everyone knows everyone else, I was quickly able to discover the identity, phone number, and Facebook page of the primary suspect, the young man who claimed he was a “big fan.” I looked at his Facebook page, and as I expected, saw nothing that might indicate that he really was a “big fan” of my work, or that he held any views out of the mainstream — which is, courtesy of Iceland’s political and media elites, dominated entirely by the Left.

The most likely scenario is that this young man, or the person who prepared my drink, heard that a notorious “racist” was coming to Reykjavik, by chance saw me in the restaurant, and decided to teach me a lesson with some of the illegal drugs that were at that time (I discovered later) plentiful in Reykjavik.

This happened on May 11, 2017. However, in August 2017, the Reykjavik police completed their investigation, and police spokesman Kjartan Ólafsson admitted to me that the police had not gotten around to a formal questioning of the “big fan” until May 30. I asked Ólafsson, “Why the long delay? Why did the investigation not require more timely questioning?” He didn’t answer.

Now that over a year has passed since the poisoning, neither the “big fan” nor anyone one has been arrested for the crime, which carries a four-year prison sentence under Icelandic law. This despite the fact that the medical report confirmed the poisoning, and this wasn’t exactly an Agatha Christie mystery: there were two, or at most three, suspects.

The story gets worse from there. At an emergency room in Reykjavik, I was treated by Dr. Hjalti Mar Bjornsson, whose Facebook page reveals him to be a hard-Left ideologue: it’s filled with vicious blood libels of Israel, puerile attacks on Donald Trump, and fervent endorsements of Europe’s policies of mass Muslim migration. This doctor apparently recognized me as well (which is not surprising, since my coming had been presented in the far-Left Icelandic media as the imminent advent of Jack the Ripper), and proceeded to neglect to perform basic tests: although my heart was racing, he neither performed an ECG nor took any steps to normalize my heart rate, and neglected other basic procedures as well.

Dr. Andrew Bostom, who is a practicing physician as well as a premier researcher of jihad and Islamic antisemitism, examined the records of my emergency room stay and wrote to me:

This was a dismissive work-up of a middle-aged man who was at risk for potentially catastrophic acute illness: myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolus, status asthmaticus, etc. ad nauseam, and who was already suffering from tachycardia and tachypnea, with low sodium and detectable levels of potentially toxic amphetamines clandestinely spiked into something he drank unwittingly.

At minimum, you should have been placed on continuous electrocardiogram monitoring for rhythm, had a 12-lead ECG and cardiac enzymes drawn to rule out a heart attack, had simple pulse oximetry continuously, and routine blood pressure, and other vital signs monitoring serially with full documentation in the ER Record until all your vital signs normalized.

None of that, however, was done. I filed a complaint against Dr. Bjornsson with the Icelandic Medical Association’s Ethics Committee, but despite the obvious omissions in his treatment, he was not found guilty of any wrongdoing.

The lessons are clear: in Iceland, if you dissent publicly from the Leftist line, you’re not going to get justice or equitable treatment. If a crime is committed against you, you’ll be out of luck. If you’re in a hospital and your doctor doesn’t like your politics, you’re taking your life in your hands. Leftist privilege reigns supreme.

Iceland isn’t singular, and neither am I. The Left all over the West has shown repeatedly that it hates dissent and wants to crush and destroy dissenters. What happened to me in Iceland is going to happen again to others elsewhere, and just as in my case, those who wrong us will think they’re doing something noble, and taking a stand against the forces of what they regard as “racism” and “bigotry.”

Not only does the Left fill those whom it brainwashes with hate, but it does so while portraying its enemies as the hatemongers, such that violent Leftists feel righteous even as they victimize and brutalize conservatives.

This is how degenerate and evil the international Left, in power in Iceland and elsewhere, has become. My experience in Iceland was just the beginning.
