Live & Survive: 7 Ways to Preserve Food from the Garden without Pressure Canning (Video)
Many people are into what they call “prepping,” but what is prepping for many used to be a way of living for many and still is for many today. The ability to grow one’s own food and be able to live off their land is one prong of a three-prong approach to freedom (the other two being owning land and the ability to defend). I’ve covered many of these in a prepping series which you can listen and view here. However, I ran across an informative video that may be helpful for those new to homesteading and for those who are old-school experts at it and it’s about how to preserve food from your garden without pressure canning.
It’s genius, and it comes from Lovely Greens.
According to the channel, “It’s that time of the year when homegrown food is coming in thick and fast. But what do you do if you can’t eat it all before it goes off? You preserve it, of course! These are seven ways that I use to preserve food for future meals.”
Here’s the breakdown of the video:
1. Drying 01:23 2. Fermenting 03:49 3. Freezing 06:16 4. Pickling 09:24 5. Jelly & Jams 11:00 6. Winemaking 13:12 7. Dry Storage 16:03
Bon apetit!
