Another mass shooting has occurred at a night club early Saturday morning.  This time 28 people sustained injuries at a concert at the Power Ultra Lounge nightclub in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Around 2:30am, the shooting occurred, according to police.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Police say twenty-five people were shot and 3 sustained unrelated injuries.  At least one person is listed in serious condition, which was upgraded to stable.

Victims ranged in age from 16 to mid-20s.   Each victim was being treated at local area hospitals.  All are expected to survive.

Police also do not believe the shooting is related to terrorism nor was an active shooter scenario.  Rather, police said that they believe the shooting “appears to have been a dispute at a concert.”

According to one witness, described the Little Rock club shooting as “mass chaos as people ran for safety hoping not to be shot.”

Courtney Swanigan was near the front of the club with her sister when the shooting began.  She said she saw a person with a handgun on stage.

“I just closed my eyes, got down on the ground and put my hands on my head,” Swanigan said.

Video and audio captured the moments of the shooting.  The following video was posted to Facebook by Darryl Rankin.  More than 24 shots were taken in an 11-second period.

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson issued a statement following the shooting.

“Little Rock’s crime problem appears to be intensifying,” Hutchinson said.  “Every few days it seems a high-profile shooting dominates the news, culminating with this morning’s event.”
“We are still gathering facts, but it is clear that we need to have a comprehensive enforcement strategy in place that helps take the violent threats off the streets,” he added.  “The state will participate and bring assets to the table to support local law enforcement efforts.”
Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said “My heart is broken this morning — my prayers are with the victims of this tragedy,” adding, “We are committed to doing everything possible to bring safety to our city. We need everyone to help.”

The Hill also reported that the club is facing a suspended liquor license following the shooting.

Arkansas’ Department of Finance Administration announced in a press release Saturday that its Alcoholic Beverage Control division has ordered the immediate suspension of the liquor permit issued to the nightclub following the “significant shooting.”

According to the press release, the mixed-drink permit is issued to Hermon Lewis of Little Rock. In issuing the emergency order, Alcoholic Beverage Control scheduled a hearing before its board for July 10, inviting Lewis to appear.

“We will exercise the authority granted us under the law to preserve and safeguard the public safety,” Mary Robin Casteel, director of Alcoholic Beverage Control, said in a statement Saturday that cited three potential violations: failing to be a good neighbor, allowing possession of weapons on the premises as well as disorderly conduct.

“We feel the events which are alleged to have occurred warrant our decision to suspend liquor sales at this location pending further action by the board,” Casteel added.
