What is happening in America? It seems as if every day we are exposed to a new story or scandal that does little more than leave the public in a state of confusion and anger. From never-ending wars, political corruption, growing debt, and constant violence in the news, Americans are always in a state of shock and looking for someone to solve these problems. The media keeps us going from one story to the next, with no time in between to get any real closure on anything. Joost Meerloo, in Rape of the Mind, refers to this as a strategy of no political rest. It is also called cognitive overload, and it makes the public easier to manipulate as they are likely, no matter what side of the aisle they may be on, emotionally attached to the issue one way or the other. This also leaves Americans questioning their own identity, values, and culture, as many of the problems we face are being blamed on the very ideals our country was founded on. The system is designed to make us lose hope in our future, and more accepting of the solution they are rolling out right before our very eyes. A dystopian surveillance state where our every move is being tracked, recorded, and stored as searchable data. We are being demoralized so that we will accept an end of this system and the beginning of something we don’t yet fully understand.
Yuri Bezmenov, author of A Love Letter to America, describes demoralization as the first of four steps meant to transform a country from freedom to communism. He refers to this as ideological subversion. The other three steps are destabilization, crisis, and normalization. He says demoralization takes about fifteen to twenty years. Essentially, demoralization is the process of alienating a population from its current values and exposing them to a new set of values. This explains why so many people in America are accepting of, or downright demanding, “democratic socialism” as the solution to many of our problems. The public schools have been pushing these ideas on our children for decades, with very little in the way of anything resembling American patriotism being taught to them. To be clear, we are not dealing with one generation of children who have been exposed to ideas antithetical to American freedom. It has been going on for many years. Most people assume they are sending their children off for an honest education when in reality, they are being indoctrinated into a different ideology.
Perhaps nothing demoralizes the American public more than the never-ending exposure to so-called gun violence. The Second Amendment is supposed to represent the highest ideals of human freedom. The right to bear arms not only exists as a means to defend human life, but dignity as well. True freedom does not exist if men are forced to wait on the government to protect them. Depriving a man of the use of arms for defense is to tell him his life is not worth defending. It is that simple. Collectively, the Second Amendment preserves liberty and is meant to keep the government in check. Individually, it empowers people with a responsibility to their country, community, and family. The concept of freedom in America represents the idea that men can follow a higher morality without the need for an all-powerful government, and the Second Amendment reinforces this.
The constant exposure to violence and mass shootings destroys this notion, as it shows a darker side of human nature and a need for more control. Mass shootings are used as a weapon in and of themselves, to constantly attack the very ideals that made us a free people. When confronted with the horror of mass death, and the idea that lone, deranged individuals can access weapons like AR-15s (which are nothing more than a standard semi-automatic rifle), most people do not have the mental fortitude required to ideologically dig themselves in. The frequency at which these types of events occur is, from the perspective of many, a stain on the nation’s character. Not only do they discredit the ideals of freedom, but they also highlight problems with law enforcement as well. Many of these shooters were later shown to have been on the “radar” for one reason or the other, leaving people to question why nothing was ever done, while creating a loss of faith in law enforcement as an institution. Second amendment advocates are presented as selfish and indifferent towards the suffering of children as they resist attempts to institute useless policies and unconstitutional laws presented as ultimate solutions. Every time there is a shooting, they brace themselves for the never-ending barrage of gun control propaganda that follows. The existence of any gun control law demoralizes decent people as they know criminals will not follow such laws. The rights of the law-abiding become dependent on the conduct of those who have no value for human life. Finally, even the lack of action getting anything done at all serves the demoralization agenda as it heightens tensions among the anti-gun crowd and solidifies their resolve. In the end, the elimination of the Second Amendment altogether will be seen as the only solution.
The public schools play a role by enforcing anti-gun sentiment through active shooter drills intended to keep children frightened, while developing an attitude that advances the gun control agenda. Years ago, I wrote an article entitled The Culture Changing Pop-Tart. This was about a young boy who was suspended from school for biting a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun. Despite saying that wasn’t his intent, he was treated like a criminal. This was part of a larger gun control agenda meant to change attitudes towards the Second Amendment. This also creates a potential conflict between the child and the parent. Textbooks have been rewritten to give the impression that the Second Amendment is a government-granted right, and they alone can decide who can exercise it. Today, instead of asserting our rights as free men, we are waiting on a court of nine people to tell us what our rights are.
The Second Amendment itself represents an idea. An idea that defines the highest ideals of freedom and morality. Mass shootings destroy this notion as the amendment itself is blamed for the violence. Every time one of these incidents occurs, the gun control agenda advances, whether through legislation or not. It wears down on the public mind, and with every passing generation there are fewer and fewer people left who have the resolve and mental fortitude required to not only defend the Second Amendment but define it in its totality. Millions of gun owners across the country have a safe full of high-powered hunting rifles yet scoff at the idea of owning an AR-15. The amendment is being reframed from one meant to protect life, liberty, and human dignity, to one for hunting and target shooting. Soon, people will line up in droves to willingly surrender their rights in the name of public safety.
With every mass shooting, we are moving through Bezmenov’s four stages of ideological subversion. We have been demoralized; society is becoming increasingly unstable, and eventually this will lead to a constitutional crisis. Then, in the normalization phase, the final solution will be the boot in the neck. The realization that they have built a control grid right under our noses will sink in, and it won’t matter what any court says about AR-15s, suppressors, or high-capacity magazines. If you are not behaving the way the government wants, they will just turn off your access. This is the world being built around us as we are distracted by fake issues and contrived narratives that attempt to define what we should be thinking about everything.
