At some point the media’s shameless lies, manipulations and chicanery no longer elicit outrage, just contempt.
Contempt is all I can summon for this Reuters headline, “Study questions Iran-al Qaeda ties, despite U.S. allegations”.
Before we get to another tedious set of spin and lies, here’s the larger context that sends all of this tumbling into the fake news abyss.
A top Iranian official has admitted for the first time that Iran knowingly helped al-Qaeda terrorists — including some of the 9/11 attackers — travel secretly through the Middle East.
“Their movements [through Iran] were under the complete supervision of the Iranian intelligence,” Mohammad-Javad Larijani said in a recently surfaced interview.
“Our government agreed not to stamp the passports of some of them” when al-Qaeda members passed through Iran on trips between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, Larijani confirmed.
The ruse protected the terrorists from prosecution by Saudi authorities, he said – and shielded at least one of the pilots who turned passenger planes into deadly missiles on 9/11.
Larijani’s confession came in a May 30 interview on Iranian state TV.
So Reuters and New America are trying to deny something that Iran already admitted to. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s start.
There is no evidence that Iran and al Qaeda cooperated in carrying out terrorist attacks, according to a study published on Friday that casts doubt on Trump administration statements about close ties between the two.
The “allegations” originated with the 9/11 Commission Report. But Reuters’ Warren Strobel prefers to cater to illiterate lefties.
The conclusions of the study, by the New America think tank…
The New America think tank is a lefty organization funded by the Ford Foundation and George Soros. But while the media makes sure to call every conservative organization, “right-wing”, no mention is made of a lefty group’s political affiliations. Or its possible agendas.
The findings clash with recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggesting Iran has collaborated with al Qaeda…
Again that claim comes from the 9/11 Commission Report long before Trump took office.
Isn’t it wonderful how the media claims the privilege to fact check everyone else while never checking its own lies and smears.
Lahoud, who has studied the bin Laden documents since the first batch was released in 2012, said she looked for evidence that al Qaeda and Iran had operational ties in plotting terror attacks.
“This I did not find,” she said.
I’m sure she looked for that evidence the way I look for evidence that Iran is the most wonderful place on earth.
But at no point in time, during his article, which interviews no one except an employee of a lefty group, does Warren Strobel mention the 9/11 Commission Report.
And the media gets outraged when Trump calls it, “Fake News.”
Fake News is too nice a term for dishonesty like this.
