NC Governor Demonstrates He’s a Lawyer First – Christian Second

As the issue becomes increasingly involved, it, like a black hole is beginning to swallow every point of life.  Sodomy has become the hammer of change, beating out a new nation and a new people.  There are few who can hope to escape now that the supports of liberty are being battered to ruin.  It is in this political and judicial climate that men of virtue and truth must stand or fall for or by what is the dearest.  It seems that NC Governor Pat McCrory has chosen the judgment of man over the Law of God.

Christian News reports:

The Republican governor of North Carolina has vowed to veto a bill that would allow some judges to opt out of participating in same-sex ceremonies.

It is not in any way to be understood that McCrory is in support of sodomy or sodomite unions.  He fought to see them banned in North Carolina, but has fully cooperated with the federal tyranny that broke the NC constitutional amendment.  And now, when men and women of faith are faced with compromising their faith or losing their livelihood, McCrory is slipping them back into the noose.

S.B. 2 was introduced earlier this year by Sen. Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) to allow magistrates to recuse themselves from officiating over the services, as well as to permit register of deeds workers to opt out of issuing licenses due to religious objections. The bill comes with one condition: that the individual remove themselves from the marriage business altogether.

“Every magistrate has the right to recuse from performing all lawful marriages … based upon any sincerely held religious objection,” it reads. “Such recusal shall be upon notice to the chief district court judge and is in effect for at least six months from the time delivered to the chief district court judge.”

This would allow the magistrates and registers of deed the ability to opt out of the marriage situation altogether.  This would be beneficial for NC in two ways. In the first place, this would not force many men and women from their jobs.  There would be no confusion as many of the magistrates and registers have vowed to resign before taking part.  It would also help keep these people working, which is also good for businesses.  When people are forced out of their jobs, they do not spend money.

But McCrory will not have this exemption.

“I recognize that for many North Carolinian’s, including myself, opinions on same-sex marriage come from sincerely held religious beliefs that marriage is between a man and a woman,” he said.

“However, we are a nation and a state of laws,” McCrory stated. “Whether it is the president, governor, mayor, a law enforcement officer, or magistrate, no public official who voluntarily swears to support and defend the Constitution and to discharge all duties of their office should be exempt from upholding that oath; therefore, I will veto Senate Bill 2.”

This will mean that the NC legislature will be forced to find another way to save these people from walking off their jobs.  McCrory has decided that we are a democratic society.  It is the masses that decide what is right.  And though I do not question Pat’s faith, I do question his understanding of Law.  Men, no matter their station or education, do not make Laws.  Our country was founded on the understanding that Law, as English law stated before us, was something that came from God.  Only God can speak to man’s law, and he has done so in His Holy Scriptures.

This understanding of Law is the only thing that can save our nation from this headlong pursuit of destruction.  I discuss God’s Law in my book, An Everlasting Covenant.  Buy it at Amazon today.
