NC Man Pleads Guilty To Plotting Terror Attack

We may never understand what motivates someone to side with evil. Having never wanted to see evil win, I am at a loss to explain why an American would wish to see Muslim terrorists succeed. The only thing that I can answer is sin. I know it is a Sunday School answer, but it might be the only one we have.

This is once again on display in our country. This time it is in North Carolina.

Christian News reports:

“Justin Sullivan planned to kill hundreds of innocent people,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge John Strong in a statement. “He pledged his support to ISIL and took calculated steps to commit a murderous rampage to prove his allegiance to the terrorist organization.”

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice, in 2014, Sullivan, now 20, began watching violent ISIS videos on the Internet and saved the recordings. He also reportedly destroyed his parents’ religious items, declaring himself to be a supporter of ISIS.

The following year, Sullivan allegedly discussed with now-deceased ISIS recruiter Junaid Hussain plans to carry out armed attacks in North Carolina and Virginia.

Unbeknownst to Sullivan, one of his contacts was an undercover FBI agent. He said that he was planning to attack a loud and crowded area, such as a concert. He sought to acquire a silencer to use in the attack.

He was arrested in June of 2015, and now faces life in prison after accepting a plea.

Are these lone killers seeking to be famous? Are they seeking to be a part of something? Could it be that they have actually converted to Islam?

We may now be able to find out what drew Sullivan to the evil that is ISIS.
