Obama Administration Admits to Lying about Deal with Cuba

Well, this is awkward. As we approach the 2016 presidential election we are learning that once again the Obama administration lied to the American people.

This time the lie was about opening up relations with Cuba and the deal signed between our two governments.

On Wednesday, Politico reported that a top official with the TSA admitted to Congress that American air marshalls were NOT yet allowed on commercial flights to Cuba. This information comes as a shock to anyone paying attention to the ongoing political maneuvering between our two countries. Why? Because back in the Spring, Seth Stoddard, an assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, told Congress that flights to and from Cuba would not begin until air marshals were allowed on those flights. Then, in August, the TSA told reporters that the USA and Cuba had “entered into an aviation security agreement that sets forth the legal framework for the deployment” of air marshals “on board certain flights to and from Cuba.”

Sadly, none of it was true.

Rep. John Katko (R-NY) said that the TSA had “misled the American public when you issued that press release saying that it was going to be on select commercial flights. And you did it at a time right before the flights were about to start.” Katko further argued that it was incidents like this were the very reason that so few Americans trusted the TSA. “I think that is the type of thing that causes rifts in relationships and trustworthiness between agencies and oversight persons such as myself. And it pains me to bring this up in a public setting. But I do it as an example of why we need more openness and more collaboration instead of obfuscation between the agencies.”

It wasn’t just Katko laying in to the Obama administration and the TSA on Wednesday. Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) also took the opportunity to attack the Executive Branch for once again misleading the American people in an effort to advance their liberal, and dangerous, agenda.
