It is difficult at times to understand where we are as a people.  Never mind the situation our country is in, but that we as a people have begun to swallow all manner of junk.  We are crossing into uncharted stupidity when we refuse to allow people to speak or print prayers for others.  This has happened in Illinois with a Pro-life campaign.

The Washington Times reports:

A Chicago-area woman has accused Office Depot of religious discrimination after employees refused to make copies of an anti-Planned Parenthood flier, citing company policy that prohibits the “persecution of people who support abortion rights.”

Maria Goldstein, 42, said she was told to use the self-serve copy machines after employees at the Office Depot in Schaumburg refused to fulfill her order of 500 copies of “A Prayer for the Conversion of Planned Parenthood,” the Chicago Tribune reported.

There are so many questions concerning this that it really is hard to know where to start.  We have the idea that everyone (except Christians) can refuse service to people for any reason.  We have the idea that prayer is persecution.  We have the idea that these things are meant to hurt people.  But what we have to understand above all things is that the idea that Christian material is offensive.

The Times continues:

The handout, published by The Daily Caller, included statistics about abortion in the U.S. and at Planned Parenthood. Ms. Goldstein said the intention of the prayer, composed by the Rev. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, is to ask for conversion.

You see, in reality, the material is not offensive—it is truthful.  There were things on the flier that people do not want pointed out–the same reason that pro-abortion activists and politicians do not want ultrasound requirements.  If the American people see and hear the truth, they will not support these practices.

The Times reported:

Karen Denning, a spokeswoman for Office Depot, told The Tribune that company policy prohibits “the copying of any type of material that advocates any form of racial or religious discrimination or the persecution of certain groups of people. It also prohibits copying any type of copyrighted material.”

“The flier contained material that advocates the persecution of people who support abortion rights,” Ms. Denning said.

They knew that this was a lie.  The flier was meant to direct people to pray for people in Planned Parenthood to be converted.  The people would be praying that God would cause these people to believe the truth and convert to Christ and stop their heinous practice.  After much pressure, they have changed their tune.

Breitbart reports:

In an apology statement to Maria Goldstein, reported by the Chicago Tribune, Office Depot chairman and CEO Roland Smith said, “We sincerely apologize to Ms. Goldstein for her experience and our initial reaction was not at all related to her religious beliefs. We invite her to return to Office Depot if she still wishes to print the flier.”

What we are learning is that when we say that we cannot criticize anyone because that would be discrimination, we have to discriminate against those who speak the truth.  Christians cannot call sodomy sin, and, now, we cannot say that murder is a sin.  We are proud of Maria because they thought she would take it and go away, but, instead, she stood for truth and her rights.
