In lieu of my normal commentary, and the recent Colin Kaepernick scandal. I thought I would submit a piece written by my good friend Rev. Ralph J. Chittams, Sr.. Pastor Chittams is Vice Chair of the Washington, DC GOP, Chapter President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Washington, DC and a prominent conservative pastor in our nation’s capital.
What makes the United States of America the great country it is? Our Constitution! In how many countries can someone publicly bash their country without fear of government backlash?
The First Amendment to the Constitution provides American citizens and illegal aliens the right to free speech, and due to Supreme Court interpretations, free speech rights now extend to almost all manner of communication. Walking on the American flag has been determined an exercise of free speech. Burning said flag is also an exercise of free speech. Even remaining seated during the playing of our National Anthem has been determined an exercise of free speech.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did just that prior to a recent NFL game. I acknowledge his right to exercise his free speech rights, and now, I will exercise mine.
Let’s examine Kaepernick’s motivation.
It is being widely reported that during the offseason Kaepernick converted to Islam and is engaged to Black Lives Matter activist and MTV DJ Nessa Diab. So Kaepernick, who was adopted and raised by a White Christian couple, allegedly converts to Islam, gets engaged to a BLM activist and we are supposed to believe that it is a coincidence that he now decides America has given him a raw deal?
He is the biological son of a white woman and a black man and was adopted shortly after birth by the Kaepernick family. While he bemoans the raw deal America has dealt him and other black people, he commends his white father for instilling in him strong values. His parents supported his desire to play football, and that support led to a scholarship at the University of Nevada, Reno. Then in 2011, he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and is now a millionaire!
In defending his decision to remain seated during the National Anthem, Kaepernick recited the now disproven narrative that police are hunting down black men. “The cops are getting paid leave for killing people,” he said. But a study conducted by Roland G. Fryer, Jr., professor of economics at Harvard University, found there is no bias in police shootings. For those who do not know, Professor Fryer is “the youngest African-American to receive tenure at Harvard and the first to win a John Bates Clark medal, a prize given to the most promising American economist under 40.”
I wonder who put those now debunked thoughts into his head. I know, his BLM sweetheart!
Oh, but there is more. Kaepernick lost the starting quarterback job to Blaine Gabbert last year, and a shoulder injury has since reduced him to bench-warmer status. By the way, the 49ers have two additional QBs on their roster. So what better way to bring attention to one’s self than to employ the “Jason Collins-opportunist” method of self-promotion? (Collins used his homosexuality to extend his mediocre basketball career.) Kaepernick will ultimately use his new-found social activism to claim victimhood when he is cut by the 49ers.
During an interview on Fox, Jay Glazer commented, “Regardless of politics or not, [Kaepernick] has a very, very big uphill battle to make this team. It has nothing to do with political views whatsoever. He lost a ton of weight this off-season, had three surgeries, couldn’t work out, lost that double threat, that size-speed ratio. No political views, he just hasn’t been effective. He’s regressing as a player. I’d be shocked if he’s on this roster by the end of this year. He may not be on it in the next two weeks.”
When asked if stating his political views might result in him being cut from the team, Kaepernick responded, “I don’t know. But if I do, I know I did what’s right. And I can live with that at the end of the day.”
Kaepernick is laying the foundation to claim racism is what cost him his football career. Nonsense! When Kaepernick is cut, it will have nothing to do with his politics and everything to do with the fact that his skills as a quarterback have diminished to the point that he is no longer an asset to the 49ers. Kaepernick is playing the race and victim card.
I do not recall Kaepernick ever uttering a word about the deaths of black people killed by other black people in Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Washington, DC, or Baltimore. But now, at the end of his career, he suddenly finds a social justice conscience, and it only applies when black people are killed by white cops.
And what about the 20 million black babies murdered by Planned Parenthood? According to a study conducted by the University of North Carolina, “voluntary infanticide,” abortion, is the number-one killer of black and Hispanic people in the United States. But Kaeperinck wants to give oxygen to a discredited narrative that cops are hunting black people and remain silent about the genocide that is actually aimed at his own people.
Kaepernick spoke his truth. Now I have spoken mine. Let’s see the left respect my right to free speech.
