Lately, it has seemed as though we had no hope. No matter what the issue, there seemed to be a tidal wave of unrighteousness crashing down on our country. With the Supreme Court ruling on sodomite marriage and the transgender movement coming close on its heels, all seemed to be going in the wrong direction. It was enough to make one feel as though all was lost—as if there was no reason to fight because there was no hope of winning.
But, now, we have seen a few things begin to go our way. A Pennsylvanian judge that threw out the FFRF claim against a public school. And now, in Tennessee, we have a reversal of a politically correct labeling on court documents.
Fox News reports:
On Tuesday afternoon I told you that court officials in Tennessee had replaced the words “Mother” and “Father” on court documents with the gender-neutral terms “Parent 1” and “Parent 2.”
A few hours after my column was published the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) announced they were reversing the policy.
The announcement was literally 24 hours after the first report of this bonehead move. Tennessee officials, seeking to please or placate the one percent, decided to make this change. They did so simply because they wanted to get ahead of any complaints. They did not want to face any charges of discrimination. So, instead of waiting for the complaint and then caving, they cave before there was pressure.
A court spokesperson told me they had made the change to more gender-neutral language in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision to redefine marriage.
And, though this might make sense to the state, it has turned out to be a bad idea for the people. People are getting tired of this silliness. They are getting fed up with all this hopeless change. And now, we have seen that the right kind of pressure can make a difference.
That decision infuriated thousands of readers — including one mother who said she did not endure ten hours of labor to be called “Parent 1.”
And this is a valid point. We have many women not really hearing what it is that is being done. Their identity is being erased. Wife and mother are titles that were honored and coveted, but, thanks to liberal hacks, are now some kind of curse. And there is this erasing of the things that make women special and honorable. It is not about a man feeling like a woman, it is the devaluing of women.
And it is about time that we as a society begun to push back. And this move in Tennessee has proven that there is a reason to hope. Hope that things can be reversed. These bad decisions and foolish policies can be struck down. And, what’s more, the state can seem humble.
Here’s the statement I received from the AOC:
“After receiving feedback regarding a recent change made to the permanent parenting plan form, the AOC has reviewed the procedures and determined that, before making any changes to the form, the AOC should consult with the Domestic Committee of the Tennessee Judicial Conference. We have reverted to the previous form and the Committee has been notified.”
Chalk one up for the good guys.
