Now, this is what we mean when we speak about resisting tyranny! This Polish pastor in Canada made a video of himself running off Canadian police and a health official who were illegally in the church he pastors. Needless to say, it has gone viral, and for good reason!
During the Passion week, Pastor Artur Pawlowski challenged the Calgary Police in Alberta and a health inspector who intruded on a church service without a warrant on Good Friday.
Here’s how he handled them.
On Facebook, he wrote:
The law is on his side too.
Ezra Levant detailed that 176(2) of the Criminal Code makes it a crime to disturb church service, which reads as follows:
176 (1) Every person is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term of not more than two years or is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction who
(a) by threats or force, unlawfully obstructs or prevents or endeavours to obstruct or prevent an officiant from celebrating a religious or spiritual service or performing any other function in connection with their calling, or
(b) knowing that an officiant is about to perform, is on their way to perform or is returning from the performance of any of the duties or functions mentioned in paragraph (a)
(i) assaults or offers any violence to them, or
(ii) arrests them on a civil process, or under the pretence of executing a civil process.
Disturbing religious worship or certain meetings
(2) Every one who willfully disturbs or interrupts an assemblage of persons met for religious worship or for a moral, social or benevolent purpose is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.
Yet, the criminal police attempted to justify their lawless and cowardly actions.
“One uniformed member of the Calgary Police Service attended a call to assist our partner agencies, Alberta Health Services and City of Calgary Bylaw Services, in relation to a religious gathering” the statement began.
“The concern was that the people in attendance were not adhering to the government’s COVID-19 public health orders,” they admitted. They then referred to the Polish immigrant who is head pastor of the church, Artur Pawlowski, as “The organizer of the gathering” and claimed he was “uncooperative with the health inspector, and repeatedly raised his voice asking all parties to leave the premises.”
“No tickets were issued at the time and it will be up to our partner agencies to determine subsequent enforcement activity in response to the situation,” the police seemingly threatened.
“We do not wish to disrupt anyone’s holidays or religious or spiritual events,” the Calgary police claimed, before admitting they did exactly that. “However, we must support our partner agencies when called upon to help ensure everyone can safely celebrate these occasions.”
The @CalgaryPolice are an international laughingstock. https://t.co/K74nmEIRwV
