Prospective Foster Parents Rejected Because They are Concealed Carry Permit Holders

“They’re ideologues and they hate guns. The sad part is all the kids who are languishing in the foster care system, going from home to home. And all the creepy, unfit people who do get to adopt. And they’re penalizing these people? It’s pretty unbelievable.” -Fox News’ Tucker Carlson

What is happening to America? Gun ownership may still be legal but it is treated as a criminal act by many.

Will Donald Trump win the 2024 election?

In the latest example of this pervasive anti-gun hypocrisy, a Nevada couple has been denied the chance to become foster parents, simply because they are law-abiding, concealed carry permit holders.

Brian and Valerie Wilson recently appeared on Fox and Friends to discuss their plight.

According to Fox News:

Brian and Valerie Wilson, of Las Vegas, told “Fox & Friends” Sunday that they have always planned to become foster parents and eventually adopt, but have been denied permission to do so because of a state regulation that prohibits the carrying of loaded weapons with foster children.

“I really want a family,” said Valerie Wilson. “It really is heartbreaking because these kids are in institutionalized homes; they aren’t getting the families that they deserve,” she told “Fox & Friends.”

“It’s heartbreaking that they’re not getting the home they deserve,” she said.

“We’re not talking about leaving a firearm around the house,” he said.

The Wilsons said they got the gun permits years ago after they were victims of an attempted home invasion. “We realized that bad things can happen to good people at any time and we need to be responsible,” Brian Wilson said.

Now the Wilsons are fighting to get the law in Nevada changed.

They testified last week before the state Assembly Judiciary Committee to ask lawmakers to approve Assembly Bill 167, which would allow residents to carry loaded weapons on their person or in a car and still serve as foster parents, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

“It just doesn’t make sense,” Brian Wilson added. “We’re talking about law-abiding people, people who have had background checks.

There has been a lot of talk lately about a coming AR-15 ammo ban. Many are calling it backdoor gun control.

I’d say this might qualify as a less obvious a type of “backdoor gun control.” To deny good people the right to be foster parents, based on the fact that they choose to lawfully carry a gun, is contrary to the constitution of this great land.

Hopefully the Wilsons are the spark that ignites change in Nevada.

All over America there are gun owners who are being harassed on the basis of a choice they have made which is protected by the Constitution.

Shall not be infringed?

But they will take away other rights if they can to make you voluntarily surrender your guns.

Kudos to the Wilsons who are fighting for all of us. They could have easily given up their guns to become foster parents, but they have chosen a different path.

They are deserving of our thoughts and prayers.

Hopefully they will get their family soon, without having to surrender their God-given rights to do so.
