Red State’s Erick Erickson Exposed Himself As A Hypocrite In his Op-Ed Supporting Kelly Loeffler

Republican, Democrat, conservative, progressive, liberal or status quo.  Assign any label you want to describe your politics but remember this, there are only two types of people – constitutionalists (those who support the Constitution) and anti-constitutionalists (those who do not support the Constitution).  The Constitution for the united States of America is not a Chinese buffet where you can pick and choose what you want to support.  Citizens support it in its entirety, or they don’t support it at all.  Why is this important?  A prominent “conservative” evangelical American blogger and radio host has endorsed Kelly Loeffler, who is expected to be appointed to the Senate by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to replace outgoing Senator Johnny Isakson at the end of the year.

Big League Politics reported:

Erick Erickson, who was among the most prominent Never Trumpers in 2016, has come out with an endorsement of Kelly Loeffler, who will likely be appointed to the U.S. Senate.

Loeffler is widely believed to be the preferred pick of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to replace Sen. Johnny Isakson, who is departing at the end of the year due to health issues. Kemp is reportedly going to pick Loeffler over Rep. Doug Collins, who President Donald Trump has suggested for the position.

Erickson wrote in an op/ed for The Resurgent defending Gov. Kemp’s pick based on identity politics pandering.

No one who is a conservative or a constitutionalist would support any appointment based on “identity politics”.   Remember, Kemp’s reason for appointing Loeffer was to bring women voters back to the GOP.  Erickson indicated that the appointment of Loeffler follows a well-established pattern by Gov. Kemp of “appointing people outside of the box”.  Certainly, choosing to go “outside the box” in appointments is not a bad thing because it potentially means keeping a “swamp” creature out.  However, it’s a big risk unless the individual is known thoroughly by the one doing the appointment and the individual’s associations reflect his or her values, beliefs, and principles.

While Loeffler may be able to “self-fund”, according to Erickson, she was a former Democrat, Democratic donor, and has ties to Georgia Intercontinental Exchange, through her husband, and Bakkt, a company dealing in digital currency.  It was Erickson who cautioned Christians about rallying around Trump and “taking a seat at the table if it means harming their ability to lead others to faith”, in a November 2016 op/ed for the New York Times.  He continued, “Justifying sin in the acquisition of power is the very thing the Old Testament shows will lead to the downfall of faith communities”.  Has he reneged on that stance now?

Questions floated around several media outlets about whether Isakson’s Senate seat was somehow “procured”.  Hannity intimated it;  Mark Levin said it.  And, this writer wondered it.

In his op/ed in The Resurgent, Erickson indicated what could be expected from Loeffler.

On impeachment: You won’t find Loeffler backing impeachment. One of the arguments for Doug Collins is that he will oppose impeachment. So too will Loeffler.

On abortion: One of the attacks on Loeffler is that she sits on the board of Grady Hospital, an abortion provider. The reality is that Grady long ago abandoned elective abortions and now only performs those necessary to preserve the life of a mother. The decision to abandon elective abortions came before Loeffler sat on the board.

On social conservatism: I have been told by multiple people that Loeffler is a devout, pro-life Catholic with a worldview that reflects that. I have no reason to believe otherwise.

When it comes to impeachment, Loeffler, along with other Republicans, registered as a “wild card”.  Who really knows which way she will go?

Erickson claimed Loeffler is pro-life;  however, she serves on the board of Grady Hospital.  Grady Hospital abandoned performing elective abortions and now only performs abortions when necessary to preserve the life of the mother.  Hundreds of doctors have refuted the claim that murdering the child to save the mother’s life is necessary.

“There is never a situation in the law or in the ethical practice of medicine where a preborn child’s life need be intentionally destroyed by procured abortion for the purpose of saving the life of the mother. A physician must do everything possible to save the lives of both of his patients, mother and child. He must never intend the death of either.”

Either way you slice it or dice it, Loeffler is associated with an entity who murders babies in the womb under the fallacy of preserving the mother’s life.  So, Erickson, who so eloquently cautioned Christians about justifying sin in the acquisition of power using the Old Testament, has taken a seat at the table and justified sin in the potential attainment of power for the Republican Party.

Erickson admitted he was told by multiple people Loeffler is a “devout, pro-life Catholic with a worldview that reflects that”.  Anyone who is pro-life would not sit on the board of a hospital, medical facility or clinic that murdered babies in the womb for some false justification.  He claimed he had no reason to believe otherwise despite the evidence staring him in the face.  To ease his conscience, he attempted to justify her position on the board of Grady Hospital using a false assertion.  Moreover, Erickson completely omitted the information that Loeffler’s WNBA team, the Atlanta Dream, joined a profit-sharing program with Planned Parenthood, as well as other anti-constitutional interests.

Erickson went on to praise Gov. Kemp for standing with pro-life conservatives in signing the “Heartbeat” bill that prohibited murdering babies in the womb after a heartbeat was detected.  Excuse me, but life begins at conception.  Murdering the baby before or after the heartbeat is detected is still murdering the baby.

He went on to chastise “conservatives” speaking out about Loeffler.

Conservatives love to say they want outsiders. Kemp is giving them what they want. That parts of the conservative movement are out to destroy Loeffler without knowing anything about her says a lot about the movement. It has been burned repeatedly by those it rallied around. But also, the movement is sometimes not willing to take leaps of faith with trusted allies when the movement should.

This is one of those times to have a leap of faith with a trusted ally and perhaps give her a chance.

Loeffler has to stop a challenge from the right. She’s smart enough to know it. So is Kemp and his team. That strongly suggests she will not just be an ally to the movement, but will make Georgia proud too.

Well, at least some of those voicing concerns about Loeffler are not practicing hypocrisy, justifying sin to sit at the table, or defending someone that has not proven to be an advocate, protector or defender of the Constitution.  If Loeffler was the “conservative, devout, pro-life” individual Erickson claimed or a constitutionalist, Loeffler would not need to worry about “a challenge from the ‘right’”.  Loeffler also has not demonstrated, nor has anyone indicated, whether she knows the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence – our founding documents.  And, though she is asserted to be a “devout Catholic”, her devotion is questionable based on her associations, meaning she “selectively chose Scripture to justify” her actions.

The opposition to Loeffler has not been proven to be unfounded.  In fact, concerns magnified as her associations continue to be exposed, meaning opposition to Loeffler is not based on rhetoric or anecdote.

Erickson should cease identifying as an “evangelical conservative” when he engages in the tactics of the lamestream entertainment government-controlled enemedia where pertinent information is left out or ignored in order to promote “his team”.  Based on his comments, he exposed himself as a pro-murdering babies in the womb hypocrite who is misleading his audience by supporting Kemp and his appointment of Loeffler while chastising those who have held steadfast to their values, beliefs, faith and principles and calling out hypocrites. Pot, kettle, anyone?  What else can one expect from an individual who blows whichever way the wind of the party blows?

What is the phrase again – the best way to control the opposition is to lead it?  Erickson is attempting to control his “conservative” audience through manipulation and chastisement to support an individual who has not demonstrated “conservative” values and principles. It seems Erickson has dined at the Chinese buffet concerning the Bible and the Constitution;  but, people still listen to his show and read his blogs.  At some point, they should ask themselves why.
