Regressive Media Use Time-Tested Smear Tactics Against Senator Chris McDaniel

Reporters in this era of counterfeit news rarely cover themselves with glory and seem even less likely to traffic in the truth. Their modus operandi is to twist, distort, mangle, and deliberately misinterpret what conservatives say, then launch a shameless, all-out fusillade against the object of their vitriol.

If you doubt me, take a look at what the hacks in the contemporary media have done to Sen. Chris McDaniel in the last week. First, they jumped on him for the claim he made on my program, Focal Point, last Monday. Our conversations that day centered around the preposterous and utterly unsubstantiated accusations against Brett Kavanaugh which are so antiquated they have to be dated by tree rings.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

The allegations of Christina Blasey Ford have only been made public after sitting on Dianne Feinstein’s blotter since last summer.  Ms. Ford has declined to testify at all, despite repeated invitations to address a Senate Judiciary Committee with the undivided attention of the entire country. Her contention that the FBI must conduct an investigation first is a sham excuse to dodge the hearing – the FBI has already made clear to anyone who will listen that this is not the kind of investigation they do, and Ms. Ford and her attorney know this. (Cindy Hyde-Smith is not the only one ducking public forums.)

Not only is Ms. Ford now refusing to talk in any setting where she might have to respond to the multitude of questions her account has raised, she has entirely obliterated her social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram -, which is not the action of someone with nothing to hide who believes the truth is on her side. Her high school is helping to cover for her by taking the yearbooks from her time there completely off-line, which could be perfectly innocent but more likely was done to conceal something.

Jesus himself said we should not accept an accusation against anyone if that accusation is carried by just one witness, “that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses” (Matthew 18:16). A “witness” is someone who saw or heard the incident in question. But Ms. Ford has not a single corroborating witness and no evidence (DNA, for example) to substantiate her claim.

What Ms. Ford – and now Deborah Ramirez – are doing is using the tried but true playbook of desperate Democrats that they first used in the “high-tech lynching” of Clarence Thomas. They used the same strategery in Judge Roy Moore’s case. His inquisitors threw unproven and unprovable accusations at him, and the accusations worked, despite massive inconsistencies and impossibilities in the accusers’ accounts. Even Moore’s most severe critics couldn’t call him anything other than “accused” or “alleged,” because there was nothing substantive to support any of the accusations.

Once the cowardly and spineless Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell, abandoned Judge Moore to slowly twist in the wind, the Democrats realized they had found their silver bullet. Attack a man of proven character with slime balls fabricated from whole cloth, watch as the GOP flees from their wounded comrade, and then haul the corpse off the field of battle.

Here’s exactly what Sen. McDaniel said on my program, with the statement the left has seized on in bold:

I’m tired of all these made up scandals frankly. We have a system where Judge Kavanaugh is obviously well suited for, and they’re going to drag something up even theoretically, allegedly from all those years ago that all of a sudden disqualifies this man. All of a sudden, he’s a terrible human being. No not a chance. I don’t fall for it anymore. I hope the American people aren’t falling for it. These allegations 99 percent of the time are just absolutely fabricated.

The “99 percent” phrase is an obvious figure of speech, the kind of hyperbole we use all the time. “Nobody goes there anymore…everybody knows…Everybody I know likes…”

A reporter laughably asked McDaniel what study the 99 percent figure came from. A reporter who can’t recognize a figure of speech when he hears one shouldn’t be trusted to teach junior high English let alone report on anything.

As McDaniel explained, he was expressing a simple truth – in highly charged political environments, far too often political hatchet men launch fabricated charges at men of unimpeachable character because they know that in a fallen world 99 percent of them will be believed by gullible people.

If you don’t believe me, just ask Clarence Thomas. Sen. McDaniel’s got Brett Kavanaugh’s back. Who in the GOP will have Sen. McDaniel’s back?
