Rep. Ilhan Omar Winery Accused Of Defrauding Investors With Empty Wine Barrels

Like Somali daycares, Somali wine barrels are empty.

We know that the Somali daycares had no kids. No real surprise that the Somali winery had empty wine barrels. Wine is Haram.

But let’s take a step back in the Exciting Adventures of Rep. Ilhan Omar for a moment here. How does the Somali end up with a winery?

Well, after she cheats on her husband with a campaign adviser, marries him, converts him to Islam, and he suddenly comes into a whole lot of money.

Or supposedly comes into a lot of money.

Omar reported in her latest financial disclosure that she and her husband, former political consultant Tim Mynett, accumulated a net worth at the end of 2024 ranging from at least $6 million to $30 million. Their wealth is derived almost entirely from the value of Mynett’s ownership stake in his two companies that, together, were worth no more than $51,000 at the end of 2023.

Omar has her husband to thank for catapulting her to multimillionaire status in 2024. Mynett’s California-based winery eStCru LLC and venture capital firm Rose Lake Capital both achieved remarkable financial turnarounds in 2024. Mynett’s stake in his California winery, eStCru LLC, was worth no more than $50,000 at the end of 2023, Omar disclosed. The winery had just $650 in its bank account in February 2024, according to court documents obtained by the Minnesota Reformer, and was facing a lawsuit from Washington, D.C., businessman Naeem Mohd alleging Mynett and Hailer failed to pay up after promising to triple his $300,000 investment in the winery in just 18 months.

Anyone who promises to triple your money is either running a pyramid scheme, a Somali daycare or some other form of fraud.

Then Rep. Omar claimed that the $30M net worth was an accounting error and all the money had disappeared.

An Omar disclosure filed last year showed she and her husband held assets of between $6 million and $30 million, a massive rise in wealth from her previous annual filing. … An amended filing viewed by The Wall Street Journal shows the couple’s assets to be just $18,004 to $95,000. The forms don’t require exact values, only broad ranges. Aides said that Omar looked at the form before it was filed in 2025, but that the error didn’t jump off the page for her because she isn’t involved with her husband’s businesses and she trusted the accuracy of the accountant who provided her husband’s figures.

Rep. James Comer is now saying that the winery was defrauding investors.

Comer said over the weekend that the winery had been selling empty barrels to investors under the guise of “wine to be aged.”

“First of all, not only was there a huge discrepancy in the financial disclosure form, there was the winery that was the big base of her $25 million listing on her financial disclosure form. That winery has, according to the press, been shut down because of fraud.”

Well, that’s something, alright. At least nothing in that story involves incest or terrorism.  For Rep. Omar, that’s already a step up.
