What Does Sarah Palin’s Interest in 2016 Bid Say About Our Country?

I, like many men, have to confess that I am not the smartest in my home. It is readily apparent to most that my wife is better at solving problems, takes more factors into consideration, and handles situations better than myself. It is surprising to me how well she can bring factors to bear in a situation. Most times, these factors I had not even considered. But, does this mean she should lead the home?

I am often reminded of this fact and this question when I consider female politicians. I’m not talking about liberal women who act like men like Hillary Clinton or Nancy Pelosi. No, I’m speaking about strong, conservative and Christian women, women like Margret Thatcher and Sarah Palin. These women are strong conservatives and yet, are not afraid to be feminine. These women have shown themselves to be capable of leading according to their values and not according to public opinion. However, does this mean that they should lead their country?

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

This question is something that Christians may have to face in 2016. Sarah Palin has express interest in a bid for the GOP nomination. This should not surprise anyone, as many predicted a 2012 bid by Palin. She may be simply toying with the media or trying to see how the field would respond, testing the waters as it were. Either way she told ABC:

“Of course, when you have a servant’s heart, when you know that there is opportunity to do all you can to put yourself forward in the name of offering service, anybody would be interested.”

That was Thursday. Then Fox reported:

On Friday, she told The Washington Post: “You can absolutely say that I am seriously interested. … As I said yesterday, I’m really interested in the opportunity to serve at some point.”

Fox went on to report:

In her remarks to ABC, Palin also suggested entering the GOP race with other potential big-name candidates – including former presidential nominee Mitt Romney, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and a host of governors and senators — was to perhaps help get a woman elected president.

The question is, what does this mean for the country? Is a woman president something that we should cheer for? What does it say about our country that a woman has to run our government?

Well, just like my wife running the home, it is a sign that things have gone awry. This is not my opinion. It matters little what I think on this subject. We have to remember that our wisdom must come from God’s Word.

Isaiah 3:10-12 tells us,

“This has to be our guild, light, and wisdom. Say to the righteous that it will go well with them, for they will eat the fruit of their actions. Woe to the wicked! It will go badly with him, for [m]what he deserves will be done to him. O My people! Their oppressors [n]are children, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray and confuse the direction of your paths.”

No matter how much we like her views, does not God’s Word say that it is a wicked people that He gives women as their rulers? Not because women are not as smart, but because it is contrary to His design. Our leaders “confuse the direction of our path.”

May God reverse this trend before it is too late.
