So Many Declare That They Have Been Saved – One Question I Have For You If That Is True, Then “For What Is It That You Are Saved?”

“A barracks is meant to be a place where real soldiers were to be fed and equipped for war, not a place to settle down in or as a comfortable snuggery in which to enjoy ourselves. I hope that if ever they, our soldiers, do settle down God will burn their barracks over their heads!” -Catherine Booth

I remember when I first went through the process of breaking, that is where the Lord comes into your life, breaks you down in order to show you who you are, not to show you who He is (Matthew 3:2; Psalm 51:17; 2 Corinthians 7:10-11).  Remember, until a man is nothing, God can make nothing out of him (Galatians 2:20).

I also remember when I first was being raised up in Him (Ephesians 4:15), and was asked to give my testimonial by a youth pastor at a local church.

After giving my testimonial, which was not how bad I was as a sinner but how good Christ is as a Savior (Matthew 1:21), I became involved helping things move forward with the youth group.

You have to know, friends, that I came from the rock’n’roll lifestyle and touring the country (Matthew 4:20), city after city.  So, there was no sitting around to be had.  When I started to notice that this youth pastor spent so much time on emphasizing that they were all saved, I wondered within myself as a baby Christian, why he just talked about doing what it was that needed to be done rather than going out and doing it.  Faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26).

Week after week, he talked of doing high school assemblies.  Then it got to the point where this went on for about 6 months and at this point, I was done with the talk.

After having a conversation about getting into the high schools, this youth pastor ended up inviting me to meet him at a local school.  S,o I did.  When I got there, I noticed that he was in a corner of the cafeteria with two of his youth leaders.  As I sat down, I asked him what it was we were doing here.  I said that we should be doing the whole school assembly not sitting over here watching them all go to hell.

I began to ask myself the question as to why the American Church spends so much time convincing people that they are saved, which is not their job to do (Romans 8:16) and yet, they do nothing in seeking and saving that which is lost (Luke 19:10).  Somehow or another, they are content in believing this.  They are self-deceived to say the least.

“Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that.” ~Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892), Sermons, 34.222

Conclusion: The Word says that we are all to do the work of an evangelist, regardless of call (Ephesians 4:11) and that we are to make full proof of our ministries (2 Timothy 4:5).

To date, and living by example (Romans 15:18), we have spoken at over 3,000 meetings nationwide (high schools, colleges, churches, prisons, etc.).  This is that for which I am save.

So, with this I end:  If you are saved, then for what is it that you are saved?

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10
