Sobering excerpts from yesterday’s Los Angeles Times:

Public health officials across the West Coast are urging medical professionals to look out for cases of ocular syphilis – a sexually transmitted disease that can cause blindness – after two potential cases in Los Angeles recently.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued an advisory for primary and eye-care providers to look out for symptoms associated with the disease, which is usually a complication of primary or secondary syphilis infections.

With more than a dozen cases – most of them among gay men – reported between Seattle and San Francisco and now potentially two in Southern California, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation is calling for medical professionals to do more.

“These new cases … highlight the importance of ongoing, regular check-ups for sexually active individuals who feel they may be at risk, particularly men who have sex with men,” said AHF President Michael Weinstein in a statement.

There are many reasons to oppose the normalization of homosexuality, among them that it is not only immoral and unnatural, but grievously unhealthy. Public health officials are now providing abundant confirmation that the pro-family community has been entirely correct all along in warning men about the hazards of engaging in the homosexual lifestyle.

According to Medical Daily, the syphilis outbreak in L.A. follows outbreaks in both Seattle and San Francisco, outbreaks that have occurred just since December.

The number of reported syphilis cases increased by nearly11 percent between 2012 and 2013. In the United States, 56,471 cases of syphilis, which is caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum, were reported in 2013. While the incidence was highest in women 20 to 24 years of age and in men 20 to 29 years of age, three out of four reported cases were among men who have sex with men (MSM)…

However, high rates of HIV co-infection have been seen in the recent outbreaks, ranging from 20 percent to 70 percent. The genital sores caused by syphilis make it easier to transmit and acquire HIV infection during sex. In fact, the risk of HIV infection is two to five times greater when syphilitic sores are present.

The Center for Disease Control confirms what Medical Daily is reporting:

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) have been increasing among gay and bisexual men, with recent increases in syphilis being documented across the country. In 2012, men who have sex with men (MSM) accounted for 75% of primary and secondary syphilis cases in the United States.

In 35 of the reporting areas, matters were even worse, according the CDC’s “Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report” of May 9, 2014. “In those areas, the proportion of male primary and secondary syphilis cases attributed to MSM [men who have sex with men] increased from 77.0 (6,366) in 2009 to
83.9% (8,701) in 2012.”

Syphilis had been, according to the CDC, “on the verge of elimination” in the United States by the year 2000. But now, primarily due to the promiscuous nature of homosexual sex, it is returning with a vengeance. It’s as much of a “gay disease” as HIV/AIDS. And now there is a version of if that is robbing young men of their eyesight.

Sadly, the rate of syphilis infection among black men is 5.2 times that of whites. If “black lives matter,” perhaps the place to begin is by discouraging homosexual behavior rather than celebrating it, promoting it, and punishing everybody who disagrees.

Do we write these things because we hate homosexuals? Absolutely, categorically not. It is, in fact, entirely the other way round. I would suggest those who are warning homosexuals of the consequences of homosexual behavior are showing them more love than those who are urging them to indulge in conduct that can leave them both blind and dead.

We in the pro-family community don’t want to see any males, be they black, Hispanic or white, go blind because society celebrates behavior that destroys human health. Love can do no less.
