Adam & Eve were the first people to live on this earth. Did you now that? Adam was the first man and Eve was the first woman. God made Adam go into a deep sleep and then God made Eve by taking one of Adam’s ribs to create her. “And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man” (Genesis 2:23).
While in the garden, God said to Adam and commanded him saying, “…Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17).
However, Eve disobeyed this command. The serpent talked her into eating of this tree and she made the choice to disobey.
After she ate of this fruit, she gave it to Adam and he ate of it as well. And their eyes were both opened, and they knew that they were naked.
So, the Bible says they sewed fig leaves together and made aprons.
When they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden, they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord because they knew they were naked and had disobeyed God’s command.
Because of their sin, they were punished by God and kicked out of the Garden of Eden.
If you sin, sooner or later something bad is going to happen. God gave us commands for our own good and so we won’t get hurt.
If you love God you will keep His commandments always and never depart from Him.
Adam and Eve’s story is a reminder to us not to sin (I John 3:4) or disobey what God commands us to do or not to do.
