The Accuser of the Brethren Does Not Reprove, Correct or Instruct!

“For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” -Revelation 12:10

I just got back from Tennessee where I preached and then preached and then preached some more. All is good though.  Personally, I would be complaining if I were not being spent on the Lord’s behalf (Colossians 1:19).

While I was there I had noticed a woman who attempted to equate the accuser of the brethren to those who divide for the truth’s sake (Luke 12:51) by mistaking love (Acts 20:21) for hate, by equating the law that exposes the crime (Romans 3:20) to bring about godly repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10) that drives men to the foot of the cross with the law in the hand of Christ where it can do no more (Galatians 3:24).

Simply put, this woman was inadvertently removing the schoolmaster in advocating for lawlessness (Romans 3:20, Galatians 3:24).  Yet, love tells the truth, as does it chastise, hate does not!

The accuser of the brethren accuses of that which he is guilty.

One must remember that Satan makes an entrance into this world as an angel of light and so it is with his ministers and minions (2 Corinthians 11:14-15) in hopes that people believe their lies as truth (Isaiah 5:20).

Satan lies, misconstrues, perverts and distorts the truth. Satan loves to have The Lord’s children confused about this issue (Hosea 4:6).

On the other hand, remember that the righteous will be persecuted for righteousness sake (For telling the truth).  So let’s make a distinction here (Matthew 5:10).

This woman un-biblically took the position that the accuser of the brethren, Satan, causes division by correcting.  For the record, the Lord does that, not Satan.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” -2 Timothy 3:16

“Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” -Colossians 1:28

The Lord chastises those that He loves.

“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” -Hebrews 12:5-11

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” -Revelation 3:19

Remember “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” -Proverbs 13:24

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” -Proverbs 22:15

And why, as King David wrote in the book of Psalms “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.” -Psalm 119:71

The Lord’s purpose in all of this is to grow us up (Deuteronomy 8:5) in order that we might bear more fruit that He might be glorified, and unify us within the body of Christ.

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever.” -2 Peter 3:18

“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” -John 15:2

For this is how the Lord is glorified.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” -Matthew 5:16

He does this by bringing about unity.

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” -Ephesians 4:3-6

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” -Psalm 133

In contrast, Satan divides for division’s sake so that he might conquer.

“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.  If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?  And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.  But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.” -Matthew 12:22-28

Satan does not reprove, correct or instruct.  He is in the business of making enemies of the cross (Philippians 3:18)!

“But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.” Matthew 16:23

Opposite of Scripture, Satan allures through the love of the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-18).

Satan promotes what God condemns when it comes to friendship and conformity with the world (Romans 12:2; James 4:4), which is enmity with the Lord (Amos 3:3).

Satan promotes lukewarmness (Revelation 3:14-22), compromise, double-mindedness (James 1:8) and the broad and wide road which leads to Hell (Matthew 7:13-14).

Jesus provided us the example in Himself of one that serves, but Satan is one that wants to be served (Matthew 4:9).

Jesus confirms the covenant (Matthew 5:17) while Satan would have you question it (Genesis 3:1).

Satan play’s the lion (1 Peter 5:8) while Jesus is the lion (Revelation 5:5).

Satan breeds death, while Jesus Conquers death (Revelation 1:18).

Satan tempts men while God commands obedience as He who succors (Hebrews 2:18)

Satan lies to ensnare and to enslave (John 8:24; 2 Timothy 2:26) so that in the end, those who serve him might end up paying the ultimate price (Romans 6:23) eternally in the place made just for him and his own where the worm dies not and the fire is never quenched (Mark 9:48).

The accuser accuses and blames the righteous for the crimes that he is guilty of committing. He is known as the lawless one and the transgressor.

Satan uses the law against the law (Acts 23:3) to establish lawlessness (Daniel 8:25).

As well, Satan persecutes those who keep the commandments of God.

“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” -Revelation 12:17

It is important to make biblical distinction.

Most importantly, Jesus tells you the truth that it might set you free (John 8:32)!  After all, the Lord is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19).
