The Government’s “Quiet War” On Wikileaks, Assange Manning & Hammond

In news and commentary you won’t hear in the mainstream and sadly, you have lost much of this coverage in alternative media, investigative journalist Ben Swann’s latest Truth in Media report exposes the government’s “quiet war” on Wikileaks, Julian Assange, Bradley Manning and Jeremy Hammond.

Swann also discusses the government’s lasting damage on the lives of whistleblowers in an explosive interview with John Kiriakou.

Of course, Wikileaks and Julian Assange go hand in hand.  However, while Wikileaks continues to chug along, Assange is slowly being assassinated by what appears to be Deep State operatives using CIA-type “enhanced interrogation” techniques.

As we reported last week:

Aaron Kesel at Activist Post has the details:

WikiLeaks founder and journalist Julian Assange appeared in court to fight his extradition to the United States, sluggishly reciting his name and date of birth in a zombie-like state — displaying signs of either sleep deprivation, torture or poisoning — but quickly recovered to state the rigged case against him to the judge when he was asked if he understood what he was facing.

Assange responded, appearing to fight back tears at his case management hearing, “I can’t think properly, I don’t understand how this is equitable. This superpower had 10 years to prepare for this case and I can’t access my writings. It’s very difficult where I am to do anything but these people have unlimited resources.” The WikiLeaks Founder added, “They are saying journalists and whistleblowers are enemies of the people. They have unfair advantages dealing with documents. They know the interior of my life with my psychologist. They steal my children’s DNA. This is not equitable what is happening here?”

Assange was also denied a 90-day extension to prepare his defense as governments rig yet another case against the WikiLeaks journalist, proving the death of real justice and right to a fair trial in the UK is corroborated with the death of journalism and ethics. In other words, the cards are stacked against Assange; the state has committed numerous illegal moves, yet the man’s defense can’t do anything because the state isn’t playing by the rules by showing a total bias, court action after court action.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court district judge Vanessa Baraitser further highlighted that rigging by adhering to the behest of government prosecutor James Lewis QC who was firmly against the judge giving Assange any extra time to prepare his case, as The Guardian reported.

Of course, Bradley Manning, aka Chelsea Manning, had his sentence commuted by the usurper, Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah, while leaving Lt. Clint Lorance to languish in prison for being a hero and saving several people from suicide Islamic jihadis.

Manning had previously been convicted of five espionage counts, five theft charges, a computer fraud charge and other military infractions.

Manning had already confessed to being the WikiLeaks’ source for a large amount of government documents, including videos of airstrikes that resulted in civilian deaths, hundreds of thousands of front-line incident reports from the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, about 250,000 diplomatic cables and dozens of Guantanamo Bay prisoners held without trial.

The “aiding the enemy: charge could have carried a life sentence. The government sought to claim that Manning’s leaks constituted “aiding the enemy” because the documents were put on display for the entire world to read, including enemies of America.

One does wonder about the irony of such a charge, seeing that the Obama administration actually did aid America’s enemies with cashweapons and military helicoptersu-boats and jets.

The defense said that Manning’s “sole purpose was to make a difference,” portraying him as a whistleblower. The defense also said that Manning was “young and naïve.”

Frankly, I don’t care for Manning’s “Corporal Maxwell Klinger’s” antics in trying to transform himself into a woman, but he did provide information that clearly showed that there were crimes being committed.  Those crimes were never dealt with through justice.

Instead, Manning got 35 years in prison.

As for Jeremy Hammond, he was given a 10-year sentence for releasing millions of emails relating to the private intelligence firm Stratfor.  He had pleaded guilty to one count under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA).

However, this month, while in prison, he was found in contempt of court Wednesday for refusing to testify in front of a federal grand jury.  He had pledged “silence over freedom.”

“I am outraged that the government is threatening additional jail time if I do not cooperate with their grand jury investigation” Hammond said in a statement after being found in contempt. “Their draconian intimidation tactics could never coerce me into betraying my comrades or my principles. In the spirit of resistance and with great contempt for their system, I am choosing silence over freedom,” Hammond said.

According to The Washington Times:

Hammond’s supporters said in a statement that he was found in contempt after refusing to answer seven questions in front of a federal grand jury empaneled in Alexandria, Virginia.

The grand jury is the same one that WikiLeaks source Chelsea Manning was found in contempt and jailed for defying, the Jeremy Hammond Support Committee said in a statement.

“Until future hearings we will not know what Jeremy’s sanctions for contempt could be. We also do not know what questions the grand jury is investigating. What we do not know, however, is whether or not the federal prison sentence he was serving for which he was due to be released from just two short months from now, will be suspended as the result of sanctions imposed for being found in civil contempt,” his supporters said in the statement.

“The decision to compel Jeremy to testify despite his outspoken, long-standing anarchist beliefs and support for myriad brave grand jury resistors, only to place him under contempt when he adheres to those same core beliefs should be seen as little more than cruel and punitive,” the statement said.

“The government’s effort to try to compel Jeremy to testify is punitive and mean-spirited. Jeremy has spent nearly 10 years in prison because of his commitment to his firmly held beliefs. There is no way that he would ever testify before a grand jury,” the Hammond support group said in its statement.

ABC7 adds:

Five years ago the I-Team reported that Hammond, who considers himself a “hacktivist” explained in his own words, from behind prison walls, what drove him to break into crucial computer systems and why he thought he was caught.

Under the nickname “Anarchaos,” Hammond penetrated some of the world’s most important computer systems, and supposedly, the most secure.

“From the start, I always wanted to target government websites, but also police and corporations that profit off government contracts. I hacked lots of dot-govs,” he told a reporter from the Associated Press in 2014.

Hammond said that he was motivated by the 9/11 attacks, and what he saw as the government intrusion that followed.

When he broke into the computers at security think tank Stratfor, costing the company more than a million dollars, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security knew they had a problem because DHS was a Stratfor client.

Now, you may or may not agree with his conduct, but I ask you, our founding fathers went and dumped someone else’s tea into the sea in protest of taxes, and most people reading this would support that and say they were right, why don’t people look at what is being said in this regard of government violations of the Constitution in the same manner and those who are really having “tea parties” rather than what we have seen?

You see, everyone wants a founding father till one shows up and does what a founding father would have done.  Everyone wants a Martin Luther or a John Calvin or a John Knox till one gets in their church and starts pointing out their sin.  Our hypocrisy is as stunning as the Pharisees were in their day when they honored the prophets that their forefathers killed and failed to honor the Creator who was in their midst and sought to have him killed as well.
