Marielena Hincapie, the executive director of the National Immigration Law Center, got served last week during a House hearing on Barack Obama’s illegal executive amnesty by Rep. Trey Gowdy. After she insinuated that the hearing was racist due to the skin color of Barack Obama, Gowdy blasted her and warned her about trying to “import motives to people.”
“I could’ve sworn in response to a question you received… you suggested race is the basis for why we may have this constitutional perspective,” Gowdy said to Hincapie. “Did I understand you correctly?”
“I believe I was responding to the question about, is there an explanation about why…” Hincapie began before Gowdy stepped in to correct her.
“Well let me offer another explanation to you, OK?” Gowdy chided. “Not a single Republican who is here right now has ever served under a Republican president — not one. So I hope I do live long enough to hold a Republican president to the exact same standard that I am holding this one. But for you to run to race as the explanation for why we hold the position that we do.”
Gowdy stated that he hoped to live long enough to hold a Republican president to the same standard the House is holding Barack Obama.
The South Carolina representative then went on to declare that Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) took a “very different perspective on recess appointments when there was a Texan in the White House” and Republicans “never accused him of geographic discrimination.”
“In fact — hell — for that matter, Sen. Obama had a different perspective on executive overreach than President Obama, and no one runs to race as an explanation for that. So I would just caution you to be careful when you try to import motives to people,” Gowdy added.
Gowdy followed up his comments by questioning Hincapie on her understanding of the limits of prosecutorial discretion, which exposed the fact that Barack Obama’s plan to not deport those in the US illegally was, in fact, and illegal move on his part.
It’s interesting how communists trying and use the argument of “race” in an attempt to silence their opposition. While I’m not really seeing a “standard” being held by anyone to Barack Obama, except in rhetoric, I’m glad to see that Trey Gowdy wasn’t going to let those kinds of comments stand at the hearing.
