Trump Looking for Alternatives to Noem
The Wall Street Journal reports Trump Is Preparing to Fire Kristi Noem
The president has already been asking aides and congressional Republicans for names of potential replacements, the advisers said.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security said, “Secretary Noem serves at the pleasure of the President.” The White House didn’t respond to requests for comment.
The final straw for Trump was Noem’s combative hearing Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which showed bipartisan frustration with Noem’s leadership, the advisers said.
Noem’s decision to allot $200 million for an ad campaign, featuring herself urging those living illegally in the U.S. to self-deport, had already rankled the president for months for its self-promotional style.
At the hearing, Noem told senators that the president had signed off on the ad campaign—an assertion that upset Trump, who told senators and advisers he had not signed off on such a campaign.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, where she fielded questions about deportation quotas, her spending on TV ads and the Trump administration’s immigration operations in Minneapolis.
Republican Senator calls for Noem’s resignation
North Carolina Republican Thom Tillis said Homeland Security had been “a disaster” under Noem’s leadership, characterized by imprecise immigration enforcement in the pursuit of arbitrary deportation targets.
“We just want numbers. We want 1,000 a day, 6,000 a day, 9,000 a day because numbers matter, right?,” the senator said. “No, they don’t matter. Quality matters, not quantity, quality.”
Tillis held up a letter from the DHS Office of Inspector General outlining 10 instances in which investigators said they were misled or blocked from pursuing investigations under Noem’s leadership.
“That is stonewalling, that’s a failure of leadership and that is why I’ve called for your resignation,” he said.
Tillis threatened to slow the confirmation of judicial nominations in the Senate unless he received answers to outstanding questions about Homeland Security’s immigration crackdown in Charlotte, N.C., and threatened a procedural boycott of votes on bills if the answers weren’t forthcoming within two weeks.
Earlier, Noem had denied that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had deportation quotas. However, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller told Fox News host Sean Hannity last year that ICE had a goal of 3,000 arrests a day.
Tillis said Noem’s leadership had produced a department culture in which innocent Americans were detained and two were fatally shot by federal immigration agents.
“We’re beginning to get the American people to think deporting people is wrong,” he said. “It’s the exact opposite. The way we’re going about deporting them is wrong.”
Tillis also chastised Noem for shooting her dog, Cricket, which Noem has said is proof of her ability to make tough decisions. Tillis said it was a bad decision made in the heat of the moment, “not unlike what happened up in Minneapolis.”
Noem defends spend on TV ads that put her front and center.
Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy accused Noem of putting President Trump in a “terribly awkward spot” when Homeland Security spent $220 million on a TV-ad campaign that featured her prominently warning immigrants in the U.S. illegally—in English—to “leave now.”
The Wall Street Journal has previously reported the ads rankled many inside the administration because they thought the campaign was more focused on Noem than the administration’s message and signaled her own presidential aspirations.
Noem told the Senate Judiciary Committee that Trump asked her several times to run the ads, which are still airing, and denied she improperly funneled most of the ad spend to a company run by the husband of her former spokeswoman.
Blind Man Released by ICE in the Cold Freezes to Death
Sixteen-year-old Sebastian, an asylum-seeker from Ecuador, was driving in Minneapolis when immigration agents pulled him over in early January. He managed to call his father before they confiscated his phone. Then he disappeared. Instead of processing him locally, federal agents moved him from holding area to holding area, kept him overnight in a HOTEL under guard, and then flew him to Michigan. He was placed in a federally contracted Christian youth shelter, and given 5 vaccines. All while his family had no idea where he was.
How Many Are Dead?
For Profit ICE
These liars can’t keep their lies straight.
Of course there is a quota. And this administration does not give a damn how many US citizens are arrested or even killed in the process.
Unfortunately, none of that matters. Trump does not give a damn about the Constitution or what happens to any of these people.
Noem is doing as Trump and Steve Miller want. When Republicans finally complain, Noem is the scapegoat.
Senator Tillis is correct “Noem’s leadership had produced a department culture in which innocent Americans were detained and two were fatally shot by federal immigration agents.”
It’s much worse than that as the videos above show.
I repeat, No, ICE Is Nothing Like the Gestapo, Except When It Is
Some readers objected to my use of the word Gestapo to describe ICE. Let’s investigate.
ICE Tells New Recruits to Violate the Constitution. Time to Impeach Noem
On February 25, 2026, I commented ICE Tells New Recruits to Violate the Constitution. Time to Impeach Noem
I’ve seen enough. Impeach Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem.
Well, it looks like Democrats won’t have that opportunity. Trump will fire her first. But for the wrong reason.
Is Bondi next?
