Trump Signs Spending Bill to Avert Government Shutdown for One Week

Game playing, that is all this is out of Congress, and sadly, President Donald Trump is going along with it.  To avoid a government shutdown, Trump signed a one-week spending bill on Friday evening after both houses of Congress voted to approve it just hours before the deadline at midnight.

The measure kept the government from shutting down on what would have been Donald Trump’s 100th day in office.  We should keep that in mind because of the significance of his promises concerning his first 100 days.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Trump accused Democrats of encouraging a government shutdown by raising issues of healthcare for miners (something that is unconstitutional) and debt assistance for Puerto Rico (something else that is unconstitutional).

Obviously, the issue of repealing Obamacare is a problem, as well, but the Republican-led Congress dropped the ball again on Tuesday in its second attempt at replacing Obamacare, not repealing it.

“I’m disappointed that it doesn’t go quicker,” Trump said . “It is a very tough system.”

While many are putting this all on the Republicans, the fact is that this type of thing occurred for years under Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah.  The only problem was that Republicans would not fully follow through and their bluff was called when it would cost them political capital.  In other words, they demonstrated they had not political “man parts.”

Now, they control both houses of Congress and the White House.  Now, we’ll see if they put their money where their mouths are and actually limit government by limiting spending.  I can already tell they won’t.  They won’t even fight for their border wall funding in the budget, even though Senator Ted Cruz seems to have a remedy for that funding.

“Here’s what would be embarrassing: If the Republican House, the Republican Senate and a Republican president couldn’t pass a budget. That’s the biggest risk of all,” warned Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has been a large part of the problem, even during the Obama years.

Congress plans to pass a $1 trillion budget that will fund the government through September 30, 2017, the end of the fiscal year.  Keep in mind that funding would only be half of the fiscal year spending, and a large percentage of it is absolutely unconstitutional!

What will happen in the coming week?  More crisis milking?  More extensions, including unconstitutional spending?  Probably.  One thing we can be sure of is that unless someone carries any principles of upholding their oath to the Constitution, there will be frivolous, unconstitutional spending that will continue, and the American people are going to be the ones footing the bill.
