Trump Uses Anti-Constitutional Excuse Of “No Choice” & “National Security” To Sign Omnibus Bill

Not many people can comprehend a budget that is over 2,200 pages long; much less even consider trying to read it.  It seems members of Congress were in the same boat.  Over four reams of paper (500 sheets each) holds the budget passed by both chambers of Congress with only Sen. Rand Paul tweeting out what he had read in just the first 600 pages, indicating that “no one had read it” and “Congress is broken….”  Then, President Trump, supposedly being reluctant to sign such a monstrosity, knowing no one in Congress read it, signs it regardless stating, “We had no choice but to fund our military.”

Breitbart reported:

The president described the 2,232-page bill as “ridiculous” but said he felt the need to sign it because of his duty to protect the country.

“As a matter of national security, I’ve signed this omnibus budget bill,” Trump said. “There are a lot of things I’m unhappy about in this bill. I say to Congress: I will never sign another bill like this again.”

Trump complained that the bill was too long with too little time to read.

“You tell me, who can read that quickly,” Trump said to reporters.

The president made his remarks in a surprise press availability at the White House just hours before he was scheduled to go to Mar-a-Lago on Friday afternoon.

Trump spoke at length about the bill, specifically pointing out the increases in military spending.

“So while we’re very disappointed in the $1.3 trillion, nobody more disappointed than me because the number is so large,” Trump said. “We had no choice but to fund our military.”

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

It is more than irresponsible to pass a bill such as this without anyone in Congress reading it.

It is plainly egregious to sign one such as this on just one premise – funding the military.

This amounts to an individual signing a contract on a house loan to get less than six percent interest for five years, without taking into account the rate going up to 15 percent in the sixth year and no clause for refinance.

Who would sign such?

Is this how Donald Trump conducted his private businesses in spending his own money?

One would bet not, but it is how he is conducting the business of spending the people’s money.

Business mogul Donald Trump would not sign any agreement to spend his money based on one clause or initiative knowing the money allocated was so overblown and included unnecessary measures where renegotiation was nil.

Yet, Trump minded not signing a budget placing the American people on the hook for trillions using the anti-constitutional excuse of “we had no choice …”; then citing “national security” as a valid reason when “national security” justifies everything, including when the President sneezes.

As always, there is and was a choice;  it may not be one that is or was liked, but it is still and was a choice.

Moreover, Trump signed a bill that left many of his supporters barren of the measures promised in his campaign platform that propelled him to the White House.

The “Ominous”bus bill allows more illegal alien invaders to be released into the republic under the “Catch and Release” program.

American Republican voters cited reducing illegal and legal immigration into the US as priorities for the republic, higher than tax reform, repeal and replacing Obamacare and defeating ISIS.

The current budget provides enough funds to “build 33 miles of fencing” along the Texas border with Mexico;  but,  provides the nation of Jordan $500 million to “help Jordan build a wall and defense line against jihad terrorists trying to cross its 287-mile border with Iraq and Syria.”

Breitbart reported:

The omnibus budget says on page 394:

SEC. 9011. Up to $500,000,000 of funds appropriated by this Act for the Defense Security Cooperation Agency in ‘‘Operation and Maintenance, Defense-Wide’’ may be used to provide assistance to the Government of Jordan to support the armed forces of Jordan and to enhance security along its borders.

On page 375, the omnibus says:

For the ‘‘Counter-Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Train and Equip Fund’’, $1,769,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2019 …

That these funds may be used in such amounts as the Secretary of Defense may determine to enhance the border security of nations adjacent to conflict areas including Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia resulting from actions of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria:

It appears our government and Trump believes it is more important to “secure” the nation of Jordan from “jihad terrorists” than our own republic.

No one disputes that funding is needed for our military and its aging equipment.  The breakdown in military funding is presented here.  Included in this funding is $65.2 billion for Overseas Contingency Operations, a war budget, for the operations in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan – areas the US should not be in the first place.

Rand Paul tweeted the bill contained a clause stating “no money shall be spent for the permanent stationing of US forces in Afghanistan.”

According to Sen. Paul, this Overseas Contingency Operations budget amounts to a military slush fund that circumvents budget caps.  The US military has been “stationed” in Afghanistan for over 16 years, which Sen. Paul questions the meaning of “permanent.”  So, more than equipment funding made it into the budget to support “wars” based on presidential edict instead of those constitutionally declared.

Congress could not support funding a border wall to secure our republic, yet these charlatans funded the following, per Sen. Rand Paul:

o $1m for the World Meteorological Organization
o $218m for Promoting Democracy Development in Europe (yep..the birthplace of democracy needs promoting)
o $25m for International Religious Freedom
o $10m for disadvantaged Egyptian Students

o $12m for Scholarships for Lebanon
o $20m for Middle East Partnership Initiative Scholarship Program
o $12m in military funding for Vietnam
o $3.5m in nutrition assistance to Laos
o $15m in Developmental assistance to China
o $10m for Women LEOs in Afghanistan

It’s almost ridiculous when one reads it.  Development assistance to China?  Seriously?  Nutrition assistance to Laos, Scholarships for Lebanon, millions for disadvantaged Egyptian students?  And, the most ridiculous is $10 million for Women LEO’s in Afghanistan – a Muslim, misogynistic country where women are second-class citizens.  Looks as though there was plenty of funding for US border security but it went elsewhere.  Guarantee you, the money Congress earmarked for these “projects” are not really going toward those projects.

So, when Trump claims, “we had no choice,” it is an anti-constitutionalist copout to satisfy some agenda.  He didn’t like the choice, but still had one.  He caved or he had to “play ball” with “certain forces.”  Either way, the man who spouts being an expert in “the art of the deal” turned out to be an abject novice in “the cesspool of Washington, DC.”

Government shutdowns amount to almost a nothing burger since only 15 percent of government is shuttered – unnecessary portions of government;  the remaining 85 percent still operates.  Yet, fear-mongering politicians paint is as some grotesque picture, similar in form to the portrait painted of Michelle Obama.  These politicians cannot afford for the American public to realize that 15 percent of the government is unnecessary so they bombard the people with scare tactics of their “benefits” not being paid as well as other programs being sliced.

What the citizenry can take away from the “Ominous” bill budget fiasco is that Republicans are no better than Democrats, each cares not for the republic or its people, both parties are traitorous, both parties lie, and no one reads legislation put forth before voting.  Congress is broken, dysfunctional and in need of major housecleaning in both chambers.  The ruling political class has made each citizen into “money fodder” subjects, espousing no rights unless the politicians give them out and nothing more than slave to their whims – Trump included, especially with his “no choice” comment.

The big question is, “where does this leave voters in the midterms?”  Republicans have been totally exposed – have been for quite some time.  However, voters believed with Trump occupying the White House, Republicans would grow a spine with holding majorities in both chambers of Congress.  Since that has been debunked, voting for either party’s candidate will produce the same old, same old, just a different election.  America has been had.
