Conservative observers and commentators, who specialize in cultural matters, have little to no trouble identifying several problematic issues plaguing our country. For instance, extensive biblical illiteracy among believers, coupled with a virulent hostility towards Christianity, are both increasingly being utilized in tandem by liberal lackeys as a sort of one-two knockout punch against the remaining vestiges of faith and freedom, those twin eroding pillars of our republic. The anti-God minions tirelessly spew their falsehoods, and many of the biblically uninformed tragically topple like dominoes. As a result, America is rapidly heading towards the precipice of utter moral ruination and societal collapse, which brings to mind a very timely and relevant scriptural question: “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do” (Psalm 11:3)?

One thing lovers of liberty can and must do for sure is to redouble our efforts and confront these troubling trends head-on. Whenever the non-factual tripe of the Left is served up cold to the masses, we must counter their rampant deceptions and distortions with unadulterated, transcendent truth. Or as the Word of God forthrightly puts it, “We [must] demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we [must] take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5). This endeavor is not for the faint of heart, and neither is it for those who hold to the counterfeit, anemic Rob Bell/Joel Osteen-ified caricature of Christianity. Instead, this battle will require real men and women of God with the unwavering resolve to defiantly stand in opposition to the fierce cultural currents of sexual anarchy and gender insanity.

The Huffington Post is one left-wing source that has become infamous for consistently churning out their obnoxious hit pieces like clockwork. Their writers and editors have made it their highest objective to defame Christianity and distort the Bible. In a recent Huffington Post column, Antonia Blumberg rattles off yet another tear-jerking tale of big, bad, mean Christians picking on poor, defenseless homosexuals. Yet, for the culturally astute, the story is immediately exposed for the hack job that it is. The homosexual activists are anything but helpless or defenseless. This belligerent fraction of a minority actually operates according to a scorched earth policy, decimating everything moral, pure and good in its wake. Ironically, Blumberg’s column actually reaffirms the fact that the pro-homosexual movement represents an extremely militant threat to freedom and democracy. “Every advance of the ‘gay’ agenda,” as AFR’s Bryan Fischer explains, “comes at the expense of religious liberty.”

According to Blumberg’s article, the First Conservative Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida put up an “offensive” message on their changeable letter marquee, which is located on church property. The sign contained the biblical warning, “Homosexuals Must Repent or Go to Hell.” Based upon the response to all of the other messages that preceded it, no one at the church anticipated the backlash that their truthful sign would spark. However, Cate Dobbins, an area resident who apparently fancies herself as the city’s official church sign inspector, became unhinged when she read its factual words. Dobbins unsuccessfully sought out a one-on-one skirmish with the pastor over the sign’s alleged “homophobic” content. The pastor has wisely refused to dignify her petulant demands with a response, but he did send a letter to a local news outlet, stating, “I was aware of the controversy from the sign, but this church feels it is needful to keep our citizens informed and be relevant through the word of God.” We have surely arrived at a sad state of affairs when the truth is considered controversial or provocative.

Dobbins further demanded that the church “take down” down their “bigoted sign,” and she tried to shore up her foolhardy war on religious freedom via a change.org online petition. As of last check, the petition has garnered nearly 900 signatures from her fellow anti-freedom accomplices. Remember when the pro-LGBT elitists patronizingly assured Christians of the restricted right to maintain our beliefs in our hearts, homes and houses of worship? Well, they lied … again! Not surprisingly, for the morally deficient, the perverse “end” always justifies the pernicious “means.” They are now insolently coming after the Bible-believing churches. It’s open season on the people of faith, and nothing is sacred and no one is safe from their onslaught.

The petition reads, “NOWHERE in the Bible does it mention gays and hell in the same sentence. There is no place in Jacksonville for such an ignorant and hatred-filled sign – REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY!!!” (capitalization original to the petition)

Along these same crooked lines, Blumberg goes on to state, “Dobbins, a travel agent originally from New York, said she was raised Catholic, and took issue with the sign’s misreading of biblical teachings” (emphasis mine).

Either Dobbins is a “cafeteria Christian,” who picks and chooses which parts of the Bible she will heed. Or she’s been reading from the blasphemous Queen James Version of the Bible. Or she’s just flat out illiterate when it comes to God’s Word, which is incontrovertibly clear on the subject of homosexual perversion.

“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:9-10).

According to this citation, for those who don’t “inherit the kingdom of God” (don’t go to heaven), there is only one remaining option: Hell! The Jacksonville Baptist church, it turns out, was standing on solid biblical ground with regards to the message on their marquee.

The Bible also describes, in no uncertain terms, homosexuality as “shameful,” “unnatural,” “indecent,” a “perversion,” and the lifestyle choice of a “depraved mind” (Rom. 1:29-28). Even though the specific words “Hell” and “homosexual” do not appear in the same verse, the Scripture is nevertheless very unambiguous about homosexuality constituting sexual sin and brazen rebellion against God’s created order. And all such types of sexual immorality must be repented of or there will be serious Hell to pay. Period!

“The sexually immoral … will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur (a.k.a. Hell)” (Rev. 21:8).

Again, the sexually immoral – and this definitely includes practicing homosexuals – are headed to an agonizingly hellish destination unless they turn to Christ by repenting of (turning away from, abandoning) their wicked ways. That’s the most loving and compassionate thing that any Christian can ever say to those traveling down the road that leads to perdition. But the absolute worst thing we can do is to celebrate a person’s self-sabotaging, sinful ways.

Dobbins ultimately displayed the same kind of faulty thinking that is tragically emblematic of a growing number of this nation’s pro-LGBT indoctrinated citizens. It is precisely this kind of challenge that today’s church is facing – a deadly and culturally endemic combination of scriptural ignorance and anti-Christian antagonism. The simple fact of the matter, though, is that whenever someone begins hurling the mindless “homophobic” epithet, they are actually revealing the intellectual bankruptcy of their arguments. Such typical intimidation tactics merely represent the desperate gasps and futile flailing of the truly Christophobic.

“I’m all for the First Amendment,” Dobbins explained to the Huffington Post, “but their sign was inaccurate … For a church to be so un-Christian, that really put me over the edge.” Translation: I’m all for the freedom of speech and religion, except when I’m not. According to the self-anointed enlightened ones like Dobbins, Christians are free to say whatever they want so long as it passes politically correct, progressive muster. It’s liberty for me (immoral liberals), but not for thee (orthodox Christians and conservatives). Welcome to the Orwellian world of homofascist tyranny where the enemies of the Constitution are out in full force, and they don’t even have the decency to admit or the cognitive ability to realize the damage they’re doing to this country.

Dobbins did not take too kindly to being rebuffed by the church. When the leadership of the congregation refused to take the bait by responding to her hostile phone calls, she rudely attempted to deliver her petition to the pastor by barging onto their property and disrupting their Sunday services. Dobbins, however, was blocked from entering the facility by concerned congregants. The footage above reveals the unwelcome confrontation.

“You obviously do not know your Scripture, so you need to leave,” one off-camera churchgoer said, “This is private property.”

“I would like to speak with him [the pastor] and say, ‘You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. If you’re really concerned that homosexuals are going to hell you should talk to them, not put up a sign that offends them so deeply,'” Dobbins responded.

Of course, as every true Christian knows, the pure Word of God may seem offensive at first glance to non-believers (Gal. 5:11), but every single word of the moral law of the Lord brings life and is actually “sweeter than honey” (Ps. 19:10). A person need only to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8).

These turbulent times necessitate the deployment of an army of truth tellers, who fear nothing but God alone, to unashamedly declare the life-giving message of Jesus: “Repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15)! Thank God that there are still churches like the First Conservative Baptist Church out there, who aren’t afraid to boldly push back and preach the full gospel to a lost and dying world. We actually need more churches like this, especially with the darkness of sexual debauchery encroaching at warp speed.

A dearth of fearless and faithful Christ-followers would portend a future of dreadful trouble and tribulation for America. So, rise up church and follow your Scriptural marching orders.
