Waitress Donates Kidney to Customer She Barely Knows & The Reason Will Touch Your Heart

What would you do for someone you barely knew if you knew you could save their life, but it would require giving a part of you to do it? Would you think twice? Would you run away and think nothing of them? That was not the case for a Roswell, Georgia waitress last week. She gave a long-time customer of the establishment she works for one of her kidneys to save his life.

Don Thomas, a long-time patron of Hooters in Roswell, has lost both of his kidneys and was told he would have to remain on dialysis for the rest of his life, which could be a short time.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

However, Thomas was met with an unexpected offer by a young female employee that he barely knew.

Mariana Villarreal, a kind-hearted waitress, made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Thomas said, “Mariana had only been here a short time. I just barely knew her when she made the offer.”

“I said, ‘Well I have two kidneys, do you want one of mine?'” said Villarreal.

“My reply was, ‘I will accept it,'” Don said.

Though she didn’t know Thomas outside of waiting on him a couple of times, she believes that God led her to make the decision she did.

Mariana said, “If [Don] can live two more years, happy as he’s ever been, that’s fine with me. That’s not up to me. I did my part, now it’s God’s turn to keep him alive.”

So why did this young lady do such a thing? Her grandmother had recently died due to kidney failure and Marianna believes she was unable to do anything to help her.

“I wasn’t able to do anything for my grandma,” she told 11 Alive. So, she decided to help Thomas.

Well, help Don, she did. On Friday, they both went into surgery and came out just fine. Doctors said that the surgery was a great success and that both are expected to live healthy lives. Don has a new kidney, and Mariana has shown the world how selfless love is supposed to be.

Is there something special about either of these two individuals? Not in themselves, no. Thomas said, “Mariana and I are just two normal people. One who needs help – me -and Mariana who is so willing to give help.”

So, what was special about what took place was Mariana’s love that was demonstrated in actions, not words. The generosity of Mariana is a picture of love, a kind of love we are taught in the Scriptures to demonstrate to others (1 John 3:18; James 2; John 15:13).
