What Could Possibly Be More Important Than Our Tone?

A new buzzword has been adopted by the left in their ongoing attempt to shut down any possibility of debate from those of us with different points of view. In typical leftist fashion, facts have become obsolete. Today, it’s all about “how” you say something. During a debate last week over gun control, Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin challenged National Review’s Charles Cooke over his statement that stopping tragedies like the recent shooting in Oregon is a “complex issue.” Watch the exchange here.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Although Cooke could not have been more accurate in his statement, it was apparently his “tone” that set off Mark Halperin. That’s right, he didn’t like the way he said it. This was a very teachable moment as it pertains to the current state of journalism. As the effectiveness of playing the race card has diminished over the past several years, it was time for a new tactic. When you can’t make a cohesive argument utilizing data, simply mock your adversary. You’ll notice that Halperin has absolutely no idea how to address the issue, yet he knows that something must be done. And not just done, but done now! How’s that for a well thought out plan of action?

Using the newly minted strategy of tone questioning, the liberals have once again exceeded their own measuring stick when it comes to hypocrisy. Have any of you ever heard a question from the media regarding President Obama’s tone? Nope, neither have I. This is the most divisive President in my lifetime. Yet, not one single question about his tone when he mocked the Tea Party, Fox News viewers, gun owners, Christians, typical white people, the Cambridge Police, etc. etc. etc. In fact, Obama recently compared American citizens who think the Iran nuclear deal really sucks to the Mullahs in Iran. Apparently the media was perfectly okay with that “tone.”

Earlier this week, Hillary Clinton compared the NRA to negotiating with Iran. That’s right, there were no questions about her “tone” either. Think about this for a minute. In the latest Pew Research Center poll, only 21% of the American people support the Iran nuclear agreement. 21% for crying out loud! But does that stop liberals from mocking the vast majority? Does it cause the media to question those who mock us? Of course not, facts mean nothing to these people. If you’re degrading people, then you’re on the offensive. If you attack a person’s character, then you don’t have to counter factual data. Most of us learned this tactic on the playgrounds of elementary schools across the nation. The liberals have simply perfected it, and made it an actual strategy.

Here’s the bottom line. We’re watching a world in chaos due to a weak foreign policy, our national debt is well over 18 trillion dollars, we’re in the process of finalizing a deal with a country that refers to us as “the Great Satan,” and liberals are worried about our tone? Give me a break!
