With the reported deaths of at least 129 people and over 350 people wounded in the ISIS attack on Paris, we should step back and ask ourselves what is the mindset that makes these terrorists willing to kill innocent people without apparent remorse or guilt? This mindset is caused by a belief system that worships a cruel, weak and false god. Allah is his name and Muhammad is his prophet.
I say cruel because he apparently blesses the beheading and persecution of Christians and Jews. I say weak because he has to use men, women and children to accomplish his deadly will. I say false because Allah is not the one true God. As a matter of fact, he is not a god at all. While more than 1.5 billion people in 50 Muslim countries worship the god of the Qur’an, many do so either ignorantly or through coercion. The Muslim religion is one that requires complete submission to its dogma or perhaps be killed.
While some religious leaders have suggested that Allah is the God of the Bible, only known by a different name, there is no resemblance to the Christian faith and Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son. The Qur’an makes this quite clear, “Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. (If there had been), then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe (concerning Him).” The Noble Qur’an – Sura 23:91
Admittedly, the Qur’an does not recognize the deity of Jesus Christ and it is the Qur’an that points out that Allah and the God Christians worship are not the same. This is evidenced by the diametrically opposed behavior of the followers within the two faiths. While the Muslim faith has followers mutilating people, burning churches, blowing up buildings, throwing dissidents into prison and beheading Christians, the Christian faith in practice shows a totally different approach.
When there is a natural disaster, many Christian organizations will be one of the first to show up and assist bringing relief to those in need. When there is a need for medical assistance in foreign countries, it is many Christian missionary organizations that volunteer their time and assistance to bring healing to others. When there is unsafe or even lack of drinking water, it is often Christian organizations that will bring in equipment and drill for fresh water. When there are villages struggling with hunger and starvation, Christian workers will bring in much needed food and supplies to assist even Muslim villages in survival.
In fairness, one of the Muslim pillars of faith, Zakat does promote freewill charitable giving to the poor. However, it is often done for the purpose of insuring paradise and favor with Allah rather than a motive of truly helping one in need (Sura 5:9).
I would not begin to suggest that Christianity is perfect since we know from history there have been atrocities made in the name of Christianity. However, when one looks at the teachings of Jesus Christ, we understand true followers of Jesus Christ will seek to love their neighbor as themselves (Matthew 22:39).
This same Jesus is the God of the Bible who demonstrated His love for mankind when He was willing to come to earth and die on a cruel Roman cross (Romans 5:8). God the Father permitted this horrific torture to be done to His Son in order to provide the only way possible for mankind to be redeemed to Himself. After His death, Jesus was placed in a borrowed tomb and three days later, rose again. He is alive today and because He lives, we truly can have hope in this life and eternal life when we place our faith and trust in Him. No false god could do this.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6 KJV)
